In 2019, a total of 1,752,735 new invasive cancer cases were reported in the United States: 863,830 among females and 888,905 among males. For all cancers combined, the incidence rate was 439 per 100,000 standard population overall.

Advanced Materials, EarlyView.Bioorthogonal chemistry was applied to intracellularly photoactivate Doxorubicin (Dox) using gold nanostars (AuNSt) and near‐infrared (NIR) light. Two prodrugs were used: one photoactivatable, masked with 2‐nitrobenzyl carbamate (proDox1) and another photolabile, masked with 2‐nitrobenzyl diol (proDox2), which was attached to the AuNSt surface.
