Understanding the burden of orofacial involvement and patient treatment preferences in systemic sclerosis: results from a large international survey

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Objective Orofacial manifestations are significantly impactful in patients with systemic sclerosis (SSc), yet remain understudied, with no dedicated clinical guidelines to inform their management. Methods An international online survey comprising 38 questions addressing orofacial manifestations of SSc, including patients’ confidence in their treating ...

A Compact Spin‐Coated Graphene UWB Antenna for Breast Tumor Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A compact, spin‐coated graphene ultra‐wideband patch antenna designed for breast tumor detection, capable of distinguishing between malignant and benign tumors. This innovative antenna can serve as an effective initial screening tool, particularly in resource‐limited settings such as rural areas, where access to advanced medical equipment like MRI and ...

Age incidence curves for cancer. [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, 1977
Age incidence curves for carcinomas tend to be linear on doubly logarithmic graphs. This fact has been used to support the somatic mutation hypothesis. It is shown that this should also be expected on the epigenetic hypothesis when the reversible cellular changes are programmed to occur randomly.

Designing Polymer Nanocomposites for X‐Ray Shielding: Mechanisms, Architectures, and Scalable Processing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This review highlights advances in lightweight, lead‐free polymer nanocomposites for diagnostic X‐ray shielding. By linking filler chemistry, dispersion, architecture, and photon interaction mechanisms, it establishes structure–performance relationships guiding material design.

Shaping Matter with Acoustic Waves: From Particles to Functional Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Acoustic‐directed assembly is reviewed as a materials‐oriented strategy for organizing particles, polymers, metals, and biological systems into functional structures. The review distinguishes reversible manipulation from permanent structure formation through medium fixation, particle fixation, and in situ material generation, highlighting routes toward

Breast cancer incidence and mortality trends in 16 European countries.

open access: yes, 2003
Trends in the incidence of and mortality from breast cancer result from a variety of influences including screening programmes, such as those introduced in several European countries in the late 1980s.

Inequalities in the incidence of cervical cancer in South East England 2001-2005: an investigation of population risk factors. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
BACKGROUND: The incidence of cervical cancer varies dramatically, both globally and within individual countries. The age-standardised incidence of cervical cancer was compared across primary care trusts (PCTs) in South East England, taking into account ...

Cancer after nuclear incidents [PDF]

open access: yesOccupational and Environmental Medicine, 2001
Since the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945, and the subsequent reports of raised cancer risks among survivors in the two cities, there has been interest and concern about risks arising from this and other nuclear incidents, such as the 1986 Chernobyl accident. This article reviews methodological aspects associated with the detection of
