Epigenetic regulation of CD271, a potential cancer stem cell marker associated with chemoresistance and metastatic capacity. [PDF]
Cancer stem cells (CSCs) are considered to be the cause of tumor initiation, metastasis and recurrence. Additionally, CSCs are responsible for the failure of chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

Control of intestinal stem cell function and proliferation by mitochondrial pyruvate metabolism. [PDF]
Most differentiated cells convert glucose to pyruvate in the cytosol through glycolysis, followed by pyruvate oxidation in the mitochondria. These processes are linked by the mitochondrial pyruvate carrier (MPC), which is required for efficient ...

Crosstalk between autophagy and metabolic regulation of cancer stem cells
Cancer is now considered as a heterogeneous ecosystem in which tumor cells collaborate with each other and with host cells in their microenvironment. As circumstances change, the ecosystem evolves to ensure the survival and growth of the cancer cells. In

Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Mammary tumour cells remodel the bone marrow vascular microenvironment to support metastasis
The visualisation of the bone metastasis process in a spatial temporal manner is lacking. Here, the authors use three-dimensional quantitative imaging and show that mouse mammary tumour cells preferentially home to endothelial subtype type H vessels ...

A Genetically Engineered Oncolytic Adenovirus Decoys and Lethally Traps Quiescent Cancer Stem-like Cells in S/G(2)/M Phases [PDF]
Purpose: Because chemoradiotherapy selectively targets proliferating cancer cells, quiescent cancer stem-like cells are resistant. Mobilization of the cell cycle in quiescent leukemia stem cells sensitizes them to cell death signals.

Cancer stem cells: the lessons from pre‐cancerous stem cells [PDF]
Introduction Stem cells and cancer stem cells Development of pre‐cancerous and cancer stem cells Characteristics of pre‐cancerous versuscancer stem cells Are there demarcations between pre‐cancerous and cancer stem cells Contribution of pre‐cancerous and cancer stem cells to tumour malignancy Clonal evolution underlies the development of tumour ...

Method to Convert Stem Cells into Cancer Stem Cells [PDF]
The cancer stem cell (CSC) hypothesis suggests that tumors are sustained exclusively by a small population of the cells with stem cell properties. CSCs have been identified in most tumors and are responsible for the initiation, recurrence, and resistance of different cancers.

The PI3Kδ inhibitor roginolisib (IOA‐244) preserves T‐cell function and activity
Identification of novel PI3K inhibitors with limited immune‐related adverse effects is highly sought after. We found that roginolisib and idelalisib inhibit chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) cells and Treg suppressive functions to similar extents, but roginolisib affects cytotoxic T‐cell function and promotion of pro‐inflammatory T helper subsets to a
