Recurrent Fungemia Due to Candida auris
We present a case of recurrent multidrug-resistant Candida auris (C. auris) in a patient who required multiple hospitalizations. The patient's case was complicated by interval admissions to the intensive care unit for septic and hypovolemic shock for 12 months to manage C. auris fungemia.

Candida auris: nuevo hongo patógeno multirresistente
Nowadays we are very used to talking about the threat posed by multidrug resistant bacteria but a few years ago a fungus resistant to almost all existing treatments, Candida auris, has emerged. After its first appearance in a geriatric hospital in Japan in 2009, this opportunistic fungus is currently putting healthcare services worldwide on alert due ...

Candida auris and the emerging fungal pathogens comprising the Candida haemulonii complex (C. haemulonii and C. duobushaemulonii) are phylogenetically closely related. Notably, each can cause serious nosocomial infection and acquire multidrug resistance.

Increased NFκ-B Activity in HCT116 Colorectal Cancer Cell Line Harboring TLR4 Asp299Gly Variant [PDF]
Toll-Like Receptor 4 (TLR4), considered one of the most important TLR, recognizes lipopolysaccharide of gram-negative bacteria. Recognition of ligands by TLRs induces signaling pathways resulting in activation of transcriptional factors such as NF-κB ...
