The incidence rates of fungemia caused by Candida guilliermondii have been increasing over the past several years. Although still relatively rare (1.3% of all cases of fungemia in Japan), most cases of C. guilliermondii fungemia occur in patients with cancer or hematological malignancy and their mortality rate is high. As C.

Chemostat study of xylitol production by Candida guilliermondii
Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology, 2001The mechanism of production of xylitol from xylose by Candida guilliermondii was studied using chemostat cultures and enzymatic assays. The maximum dilution rate in aerobic conditions was 0.34 1/h. No xylitol was produced. Under oxygen-limited conditions xylose uptake was impaired and glycerol accumulated but no xylitol was detected.

Candida Guilliermondii Var. Guilliermondii Infection in Infertile Couples
1991Candida guilliermondii (C.g.) occurs in animals, but it can also affect humans. Morris and Morris’ have detected C.g. in human vaginal smear, Utley et al.2 in the case of endocarditis, Dick et al.3 in the case of fatal disseminated candidiasis, and Santha et al.4 have found out that 25 of blood donors had C.g. precipitins and agglutinins.

Biosynthesis of β-phenethyl alcohol in Candida guilliermondii
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1976Abstract Candida guilliermondii produced β-phenethyl alcohol and β-phenyllactic acid when grown in a synthetic medium containing L-phenylalanine as sole source of nitrogen. The cell-free preparations from these cells showed the following enzymes: phenylalanine aminotransferase, phenylpyruvate decarboxylase, phenylpyruvate reductase and ...

Candida guilliermondii var. guilliermondii infection in infertile women.
Mycoses, 1990The sera of 263 women--217 infertile and 46 pregnant--were examined by various serological methods (precipitation test, agglutination, indirect immunofluorescence) to detect Candida guilliermondii var. guilliermondii (C.g.) infection. The precipitation reaction was performed with extracellular C.

Antigens for the Detection of Candida guilliermondii var. Guilliermondii Infection in Ruminants
1988From the epididymis of bulls with semen disorders, yeast strains were isolated in 1968. They were identified as Candida guilliermondii var. guilliermondii. The following antigens for detection of C. guilliermondii infection in ruminants were prepared according to the new antigen producing technology by the authors (International Hungarian Patent No ...

Inter‐ and intra‐species crosses between Candida albicans and Candida guilliermondii
Yeast, 1986AbstractHybridization was shown to occur both between strains of the imperfect diploid yeast Candida albicans and between C. albicans and the distantly related hapoid yeast Candida (Pichia)guilliermondii Protorophic hybrids were selected from croses of multiply marked auxotropic mutants two species. In most cases, mild ultraviolet irradiation of the C.
