Canine Distemper Virus

open access: yesVeterinary Clinics of North America: Small Animal Practice, 2008
Vaccine-based prophylaxis has greatly helped to keep distemper disease under control. Notwithstanding, the incidence of canine distemper virus (CDV)-related disease in canine populations throughout the world seems to have increased in the past decades, and several episodes of CDV disease in vaccinated animals have been reported, with nation-wide ...

Immunohistochemical Demonstration of the Putative Canine Distemper Virus Receptor CD150 in Dogs with and without Distemper

open access: yesVeterinary Pathology, 2007
Signaling lymphocyte activation molecule (SLAM) or CD150 can function as a receptor for the canine distemper virus (CDV) in vitro. The expression of SLAM was studied using immunohistochemistry in order to evaluate the presence and distribution of the ...

Apoptosis in canine distemper

Archives of Virology, 2003
Canine distemper is a systemic viral disease characterized by immunosuppression followed by secondary infections. Apoptosis is observed in several immunosuppressive diseases and its occurrence on canine distemper in vivo has not been published. Anosmia associated with canine distemper

American Journal of Veterinary Research, 1988
SUMMARY The sense of smell in dogs infected with canine distemper virus (cdv) was examined by use of eeg olfactometry, behavioral olfactometry, and electro-olfactography. Infection with cdv was confirmed by a direct immunofluorescence technique in 8 active cases and was suggested by clinical history compatible with canine distemper 10 to 26 weeks ...

The ultrastructure of canine distemper virus

Archiv fr die gesamte Virusforschung, 1963
The ultrastructure of distemper virus was studied in the electron microscope by use of the negative staining technique. The structure was shown to be generally similar to that of measles, rinderpest and large myxoviruses. The intact virus particles measured 1150 to 2300 a in diameter and a marked pleomorphism of particles was observed.

Canine Distemper Virus Complex

Nature, 1954
Plurality of the Virus. Some cross-immunity between canine distemper and human influenza viruses1 has been an intriguing problem for some time and the striking immunological relationship between canine distemper and poliomyelitis has also been reported2.
