Canine Distemper Virus (CDV) in Another Big Cat: Should CDV Be Renamed Carnivore Distemper Virus? [PDF]

open access: yesmBio, 2013
ABSTRACT One of the greatest threats to the conservation of wild cat populations may be dogs or, at least, one of their viruses. Canine distemper virus (CDV), a single-stranded RNA virus in the Paramyxoviridae family and genus Morbillivirus , infects and causes disease in a variety ...

Efficient Recovery of Attenuated Canine Distemper Virus from cDNA. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
To provide insights into the biology of the attenuated canine distemper virus (CDV) Onderstepoort (OP) strain (large plaque forming variant), design next-generation multivalent vaccines, or further investigate its promising potential as an oncolytic ...

Propagation of Asian isolates of canine distemper virus (CDV) in hamster cell lines [PDF]

open access: yesActa Veterinaria Scandinavica, 2009
Abstract Backgrounds The aim of this study was to confirm the propagation of various canine distemper viruses (CDV) in hamster cell lines of HmLu and BHK, since only a little is known about the possibility of propagation of CDV in rodent cells irrespective of their epidemiological importance.

Canine Distemper Virus (CDV) in Grey Wolf (Canis lupus) in Fars Province of Iran.

open access: yesVeterinaria italiana, 2023
Emerging and re-emerging viral diseases shared between wildlife and domestic animals are continually spreading to new geographic locations, influenced by human activities and environmental change. Canine distemper (CD) is probably one of the best examples of a disease that has been proved to be capable of compromising the conservation of several wild ...

Neurological Disorders in Dogs: A Retrospective Analysis of Prevalence, Aetiology, Lesion Locations, and Regional Variations in Northeastern Iran. [PDF]

open access: yesVet Med Sci
This retrospective study evaluated 422 dogs with neurological disorders among 9131 canine referrals over 8.5 years in northeastern Iran. Infectious diseases, particularly canine distemper (33.2%), were the leading cause, followed by trauma and idiopathic conditions. The prosencephalon was the most frequently affected anatomical region.

Epizootiology of canine distemper in naturally infected dogs in Goiânia, Brazil

open access: yesCiência Rural, 2023
: Although the epizootiological profile of canine distemper in Goiânia is unknown, there is clinical evidence for a high incidence of canine distemper virus (CDV) infection among dogs. Therefore, this study determined the epizootiological characteristics

A fast and simple one-step duplex PCR assay for canine distemper virus (CDV) and canine coronavirus (CCoV) detection. [PDF]

open access: yesArch Virol, 2018
The one-step polymerase chain reaction (one-step PCR) detection assay is an innovative PCR detection method, eliminating nucleic acid extraction steps, in which samples can be directly added to PCR reagents for testing. For simultaneous detection of CDV and CCoV, a sensitive and specific one-step duplex PCR (one-step dPCR) assay was developed with two ...

Canine Distemper Virus (CDV): an emerging threat to Nepal’s wildlife

open access: yesApplied Science and Technology Annals, 2020
In this article, we have described the urgency of research on CDV in the domestic and feral dogs roaming in and around the protected areas of Nepal where the already threatened wildlife have been struggling for their existence from the immense anthropogenic pressures.

The hemagglutinin envelope protein of canine distemper virus (CDV) confers cell tropism as illustrated by CDV and measles virus complementation analysis [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Virology, 1995
Measles virus (MV) and canine distemper virus (CDV) are morbilliviruses that cause acute illnesses and several persistent central nervous system infections in humans and in dogs, respectively. Characteristically, the cytopathic effect of these viruses is the formation of syncytia in permissive cells.
