Bactericidal Effect of Entomopathogenic Bacterium Pseudomonas entomophila Against Xanthomonas citri Reduces Citrus Canker Disease Severity

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2020
The bacterium Pseudomonas entomophila has been recognized as an exceptional species within the Pseudomonas genus, capable of naturally infecting and killing insects from at least three different orders. P.

Assessing quantitative resistance against Leptosphaeria maculans (phoma stem canker) in Brassica napus (oilseed rape) in young plants. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
Quantitative resistance against Leptosphaeria maculans in Brassica napus is difficult to assess in young plants due to the long period of symptomless growth of the pathogen from the appearance of leaf lesions to the appearance of canker symptoms on the ...

Experimental dissection of phenotypic variation for quantitative disease resistance in canola (Brassica napus) - Leptosphaeria maculans interactions. [PDF]

open access: yesPest Manag Sci
This graphical abstract illustrates how quantitative resistance to Leptosphaeria maculans in canola is experimentally estimated through multi‐environment replicated trials measuring crown canker severity. Genotype, environment and pathogen sources feed into phenotyping, followed by variance partitioning using mixed models and beta regression to ...

Genome Sequence Resource of Xanthomonas citri pv. citri from Formalin-Fixed Citrus Leaves Specimen Showing Canker Lesions Collected in 1982 [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Disease, 2022
Xanthomonas citri pv. citri is the causative agent of citrus canker, one of the most devastating diseases threatening global citrus production. Here, we present the genome sequence of X. citri pv. citri strain GD82 from a formalin-fixed citrus leaf specimen showing canker lesions collected in 1982 in Guangdong Province, China.

The epidemiology of the blackleg pathogen, Leptosphaeria maculans, impacts fungicide resistance management strategies. [PDF]

open access: yesPest Manag Sci
Understanding how infection timing drives disease is essential for the development of fungicide resistance management strategies. For blackleg disease of canola, all infection timings can contribute to the following generation, therefore all fungicide applications have the ability to select for resistance.

Epidemiology of Bacterical Canker of Kiwifruit. 3. The Seasonal Changes of Bacterial Population in Lesions and of Its Exudation from Lesion.

open access: yesJapanese Journal of Phytopathology, 1993

Phytophthora siskiyouensis causing stem lesions and cankers on Alnus incana [PDF]

open access: yesNew Disease Reports, 2015
In late summer 2013, stem cankers and sparse foliage were reported on European grey alder ( Alnus incana ) growing on a 500 ha site recently-planted with broadleaf and coniferous trees in south-west England. A site visit showed that…

Deinococcus citri sp. nov., isolated from citrus leaf canker lesions

open access: yesInternational Journal of Systematic and Evolutionary Microbiology, 2014
A Gram-stain-positive, strictly aerobic, non-motile, coccoid bacterium, designated NCCP-154T, was isolated from citrus leaf canker lesions and was subjected to a polyphasic taxonomic study. Strain NCCP-154T grew at 10–37 °C (optimum 30 °C) and at pH 7.0–8.0 (optimum pH 7.0). The novel strain exhibited tolerance of UV irradiation (>1000 J m−2). Based
