Double X Configuration Screw Fixation for Middle Phalanx Fracture – A Case Report

open access: yesJournal of Orthopaedic Case Reports
Introduction: Techniques for treating phalangeal fractures are evolving. Intramedullary screws are a trendy surgical choice that leads to optimal results. Metacarpals and proximal phalanges could tolerate two screws.

Perioperative Factors Associated With Allogeneic Blood Transfusion in Elective THA

open access: yesOrthopaedic Surgery, EarlyView.
Early postoperative hematocrit is the strongest and most clinically useful predictor of transfusion risk after primary THA, while cup inclination has minimal discriminative value. A hematocrit threshold of < 0.28 L/L reliably identifies high‐risk patients and should guide transfusion‐related decision‐making.

The pyrogenic mediator prostaglandin E2 elicits warmth seeking via EP3 receptor‐expressing parabrachial neurons: a potential mechanism of chills

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend During infection, prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) is produced and elicits warmth‐seeking behaviour and involuntary febrile responses by acting on prostaglandin EP3 receptors (EP3Rs) in two distinct brain sites. PGE2 acting on EP3Rs on neurons in the external lateral part of the lateral parabrachial nucleus (LPBel) augments cold sensory ...

Increasing Infusion Times of Hyperpolarized [1‐13C]Pyruvate in a Mouse Brain Maintain Lactate Generation and Approach Pseudo‐Steady State Metabolism

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, Volume 95, Issue 4, Page 2254-2265, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Purpose To investigate whether varying delivery times of hyperpolarized [1‐13C]pyruvate, enabled by the increased apparent T1 dissolved in deuterium oxide (D2O), affects the observed kinetics of glycolytic brain metabolism in vivo. Methods Eighteen healthy mice were injected with 300 μL of hyperpolarized [1‐13C]pyruvate dissolved in D2O at ...

Highly‐Conductive Mixed PEO/PAN‐Based Membranes for Solid State Li‐Ion Batteries via Electro‐Spinning and Hot‐Press Synthesis Routes

open access: yesZeitschrift für anorganische und allgemeine Chemie, Volume 652, Issue 2, 5 February 2026.
Powder diffraction pattern of hot‐pressed polythylene oxide/ polyacrylonitrile polymerelectrolyte composites. Polyethylene oxide (PEO)‐based solid polymer electrolytes (SPEs) have been extensively studied for all solid‐state batteries (ASSBs) but still suffer from low thermal stability and ionic conductivity.
