Comparison of Mobility and Health‐Related Quality of Life Between Hemiarthroplasty and Total Hip Arthroplasty for Femoral Neck Fractures in the Elderly: A Post Hoc Analysis of a Prospective Cohort Study

open access: yesOrthopaedic Surgery, Volume 18, Issue 2, Page 220-228, February 2026.
Patients who underwent THA were more likely to regain the ability to walk independently 120 days and 365 days after surgery compared to those who underwent HA (Figure 1), and the THA group exhibited EQ‐5D scores higher than the HA group at the 30‐, 120‐, and 365‐day follow‐ups (Figure 2).

Technical Limitations and Implant Developments in Percutaneous Kyphoplasty for Osteoporotic Vertebral Compression Fractures

open access: yesOrthopaedic Surgery, Volume 18, Issue 2, Page 207-219, February 2026.
This paper systematically reviews recent advancements in propping technology and intravertebral implants addressing these PKP challenges, aiming to provide an evidence‐based foundation for optimizing the minimally invasive management of OVCF. Future development requires bioactive bone cements (e.g., magnesium/calcium phosphate‐based composites ...

Is Pedicle‐Screw Internal Fixation With Two Small Incisions Superior to Traditional MI ‐ TLIF With Four Incisions? Preliminary Follow‐Up Results

open access: yesOrthopaedic Surgery, Volume 18, Issue 2, Page 300-310, February 2026.
A two‐incision MI‐TLIF showed comparable outcomes to the traditional four‐incision approach in single‐level patients. Excessive pursuit of smaller or fewer incisions demonstrated no significant short‐term advantage. Reduced exposure may still help minimize wound complications in vulnerable groups, warranting further targeted follow‐up.

Arthroscopic Management of a Posterior Femoral Condyle (Hoffa) Fracture: Surgical Technique

open access: yesArthroscopy Techniques, 2015
Unicondylar fractures of the lower end of the femur are uncommon injuries that usually occur in the sagittal plane. A coronal (tangential) plane fracture, first described by Hoffa in 1904, is unusual.
