A Technique for Removal of Broken Cannulated Tricortical Syndesmotic Screws

Journal of Orthopaedic Trauma, 2008
Breakage rates of tricortical syndesmotic screws after weight bearing range from 10% to 29%. Removal of the portion of the broken screw buried within the tibia often proves quite difficult. We report a new technique to remove a broken cannulated syndesmotic screw.

Acute percutaneous scaphoid fixation using a cannulated screw

Annales de Chirurgie de la Main et du Membre Supérieur, 1998
Fractures of the scaphoid are most commonly seen in young males where immobilisation in a cast will lead to a prolonged period away from work and from athletic activities. Early rigid fixation has recently been advocated to promote a rapid functional recovery.

PERCUTANEOUS CANNULATED SCREW FIXATION OF ACUTE SCAPHOID FRACTURES

Hand Surgery, 2002
Percutaneous cannulated screw fixation (PCSF) of acute scaphoid fractures has been shown to consistently produce good results. It is less invasive and avoids damage to the radiocarpal ligaments. The scar is good. The procedure could be performed under Bier's block anaesthesia.

Placement of solid screws with cannulated precision.

Journal of surgical orthopaedic advances, 2005
Cannulated screws can be inserted in a precise manner with minimal damage to surrounding structures but lack the mechanical strength of solid screws. Our method allows the insertion of a solid screw with the precision of the cannulated technique. With the use of equipment from a variety of operative sets from one manufacturer, a "custom" equipment set ...

Use of small cannulated screws for fixation in foot surgery

Journal of the American Podiatric Medical Association, 2000
Use of cannulated bone screws, as compared with use of traditional bone screws, has been reported to decrease surgical time, allow for more precise screw placement, and reduce sources of error. Cannulation of the smaller-size screws that are routinely used in foot surgery has not been available until the last few years.
