eDNA Metabarcoding to Monitor Fish Communities in a Large River Floodplain

open access: yesEnvironmental DNA, Volume 7, Issue 5, September–October 2025.
Comparing eDNA metabarcoding with electrofishing in the Lake St. Pierre floodplain, we found that both methods detected similar dominant species but revealed differences in overall community composition. Each method captured sector‐driven patterns in fish communities, while land use played a weaker role.

Vegetation structural complexity uniquely captures competition between vascular plants and bryophytes over succession

open access: yesJournal of Ecology, Volume 113, Issue 9, Page 2515-2525, September 2025.
As grasslands develop after glacial retreat, plants grow taller and denser over time, changing the structure of the entire community. 3D‐laser scans reveal that increasing structural complexity limits bryophyte diversity by homogenizing habitats and captures competitive effects that remain undetected by conventional vegetation surveys.

Millennia of Metacommunity Diversification and Homogenization Captured by Sedimentary Ancient DNA

open access: yesEcology Letters, Volume 28, Issue 9, September 2025.
