Cultural Aspects of Immediacy in an Asian Classroom Context [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Among the various factors affecting students’ learning, immediacy is probably the one that has been most studied over the last four decades. Immediacy, a term coined by Mehrabian (1967), refers to verbal and nonverbal behaviours used by interlocutors ...

Sustainable Materials Design With Multi‐Modal Artificial Intelligence

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Critical mineral scarcity, high embodied carbon, and persistent pollution from materials processing intensify the need for sustainable materials design. This review frames the problem as multi‐objective optimization under heterogeneous, high‐dimensional evidence and highlights multi‐modal AI as an enabling pathway.

Biomimetic Polymerization of Tellurocysteine: Breaking the Natural Amino Acid Radioprotection Limitation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Inspired by natural amino acid polymer‐melanin systems, this study strategically incorporated tellurocysteine to develop advanced radiation‐shielding materials. This approach transformed the primary interaction mechanism between melanin‐based materials and incident photons from Compton scattering to the photoelectric effect. Tellurocysteine‐polymerized

Comprehension of Subject and Object Relative Clauses in a Trilingual Acquisition Context

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2017
Chinese relative clauses (RCs) have word order properties that are distinctly rare across languages of the world; such properties provide a good testing ground to tease apart predictions regarding the relative complexity of subject and object RCs in ...

SETD1A Regulates Glycolysis and Senescence of Nucleus Pulposus Cells via H3K4me3–HELZ2/PPARα‐HIF1α Axis to Drive Intervertebral Disc Degeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
SETD1A is a key epigenetic regulator in NPCs during IDD. In normal NPCs, it sustains H3K4me3–HELZ2/PPARα–HIF1α signaling to maintain glycolytic energy metabolism and proliferation. In degenerated NPCs, reduced SETD1A disrupts this axis, impairing glycolysis and accelerating senescence, highlighting a promising therapeutic target for IDD.
