Plasmacytoid Dendritic Cells Exhibit High Transferrin Receptor Expression Without Iron Accumulation

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Immunology, Volume 56, Issue 6, June 2026.
• pDCs are defined by high surface TFRC expression and dynamic iron flux, distinguishing them from conventional dendritic cell subsets. • In the Iron proteome, pDC are enriched for mitochondrial heme and Fe–S proteins but have similar iron storage to cDC. • Iron chelation does not disrupt pDC type‐1 IFN production. ABSTRACT Plasmacytoid dendritic cells

Eco‐evolutionary dynamics of partially migratory metapopulations in spatially and seasonally varying environments

open access: yesJournal of Animal Ecology, Volume 95, Issue 6, Page 936-951, June 2026.
Partial seasonal migration is rarely considered in a metapopulation context. Here, Haaland et al. use an eco‐evolutionary model revealing how partially migratory metapopulations may arise and be maintained, and how seasonal migrants may cause effects of local extreme climatic events to percolate through metapopulations across diverging temporal and ...

High‐Throughput Screening of Cyanobacterial PHB Production Using Fluorescence‐Based Detection

open access: yesMicrobial Biotechnology, Volume 19, Issue 6, June 2026.
A validated high‐throughput screening protocol using Nile blue fluorescence is presented for optimizing cyanobacterial PHB production. This method enables the simultaneous assessment of multiple environmental parameters in microplates, offering a rapid, low‐volume alternative to gas chromatography to accelerate bioprocess development.
