Immunoinflammatory Mechanisms and Biocompatibility of Bioactive Dental Biomaterials: From Fundamental Insights to Clinical Translation

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Surface‐host dialogue at the implant interface governs biological fate and osseointegration. Surface physicochemical properties of titanium (Ti) dental implants, including microgrooves, nanopatterns, nanotopography, roughness, and wettability, modulate the initial adsorption of proteins and the formation of a dynamic biointerface.

Microsphere‐Templated Conductive Syntactic Foams for Recyclable and Additively Manufactured Soft Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This work introduces a microsphere‐templated strategy to fabricate reprocessable PEDOT:PSS syntactic foams with tunable porosity, stable conductivity, and 3D printability. In situ PEDOT:PSS coatings create a conductive network that maintains electrical performance at high void fractions.

IRESbase: A Comprehensive Database of Experimentally Validated Internal Ribosome Entry Sites

open access: yesGenomics, Proteomics & Bioinformatics, 2020
Internal ribosome entry sites (IRESs) are functional RNA elements that can directly recruit ribosomes to an internal position of the mRNA in a cap-independent manner to initiate translation. Recently, IRES elements have attracted much attention for their

Genome transcription/translation of segmented, negative-strand RNA viruses

open access: yes, 2011
The requirements for alignment of capped RNA leader sequences along the viral genome during influenza transcription initiation (“cap-snatching”) have long been an enigma.

Affinity‐Tuned Albumin Hitchhiking Extends the Bioorthogonal Capture Window in Pretargeting Radiotheranostics

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Pharmacokinetic engineering of clickable radioligands was achieved via albumin hitchhiking approach within a pretargeted radiotheranostics delivery platform. This approach reduced rapid renal elimination, expanded bioorthogonal capture window, boosted tumor uptake by ∼3.5‐fold, and improved the tumor‐to‐liver ratio by ∼6‐fold.

eIF4E Phosphorylation Balances Cap-dependent and Cap-independent Translation Initiation

open access: yes, 2011
Signaling pathways converge on the translation machinery and influence protein synthesis globally or specifically on certain classes of transcripts. The experiments described in this thesis focus on regulation of translation initiation through the cap ...

Tough, Ductile, and Strong Hard‐Soft Cementitious Composite Enabled by Multi‐Material Additive Manufacturing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Drawing inspiration from the layered hard‐soft architecture found in sea sponges, this work establishes a new framework for architected cementitious composites (ACC) through multi‐material additive manufacturing (MMAM) process. The integration of mortar and elastomer phases into layered architectures enables synergistic toughening mechanisms, including

Transparent Perovskite Light‐Emitting Diodes with Conductive Oxide Top Electrodes

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Transparent perovskite light‐emitting diodes (TrPeLEDs) enable simultaneous display and transparency, expanding application possibilities. Using a metal oxide buffer layer and pulsed laser deposition, TrPeLEDs with diverse compositions and architectures are demonstrated.

The 5′UTR in human adenoviruses: leader diversity in late gene expression

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
Human adenoviruses (HAdVs) shut down host cellular cap-dependent mRNA translation while initiating the translation of viral late mRNAs in a cap-independent manner.

Dengue virus-induced regulation of the host cell translational machinery

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Medical and Biological Research, 2009
Dengue virus (DV)-induced changes in the host cell protein synthesis machinery are not well understood. We investigated the transcriptional changes related to initiation of protein synthesis.
