PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

Measuring the contribution of extractive industries to local development : the case of oil companies in Nigeria [PDF]

open access: yes
Extractive industries face two main challenges in terms of CSR and poverty reduction : 1) recognize that societal activity is part of their core business ; 2) take part in socio-economic projects that contribute to their stakeholders' empowerment and not

Process Capability Evaluation Using Capability Indices as a Part of Statistical Process Control

open access: yesMathematics
This study aims to highlight the importance of a systematic approach to process capability assessment and the importance of following a sequence of steps. Statistical process control provides several different ways of assessing process capability.

Technical Improvement in Revolution Control Expressed through Process Capability Indices

open access: yesCommunications, 2014
In today's competitive environment, it is essential that the company has a set of key indicators reflecting its credible performance. Modern concepts of measuring corporate performance emphasize the need for not only financial but also non-financial ...

Bootstrapping Vector-valued Process Capability Indices [PDF]

open access: yesCommunications for Statistical Applications and Methods, 2003
In actual manufacturing industries, process capability analysis often entails characterizing or assessing processes or products based on more than one engineering specification or quality characteristic. Since these characteristics are related, it is a risky undertaking to represent variation of even a univariate characteristic by a single index ...

Phenotypic and genotypic characterization of single circulating tumor cells in the follow‐up of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single circulating tumor cells (sCTCs) from high‐grade serous ovarian cancer patients were enriched, imaged, and genomically profiled using WGA and NGS at different time points during treatment. sCTCs revealed enrichment of alterations in Chromosomes 2, 7, and 12 as well as persistent or emerging oncogenic CNAs, supporting sCTC identity.

Application of HYDRUS (2D/3D) for Predicting the Influence of Subsurface Drainage on Soil Water Dynamics in a Rainfed-Canola Cropping System [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The HYDRUS (2D/3D) model was applied to investigate the probable effects of different subsurface drainage systems on the soil water dynamics under a rainfed-canola cropping system in paddy fields.

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Capability of meteorological drought indices for detecting soil moisture droughts

open access: yesJournal of Hydrology: Regional Studies, 2017
Study region: Eastern Australia Study focus: Long-term monitoring of soil moisture is a time- and cost-intensive challenge. Therefore, meteorological drought indices are commonly used proxies of periods of significant soil moisture deficit.

Testing capability indices for manufacturing processes with asymmetric tolerance limits and measurement errors [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Metrology and Quality Engineering, 2011
Most research works related to process capability indices assume no gauge measurement errors. However, such an assumption inadequately reflects real situations even when advanced measuring instruments are employed.
