Eupomatenoid‐5 Isolated from Leaves of Piper regnellii Induces Apoptosis in Leishmania amazonensis

open access: yesEvidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine, Volume 2013, Issue 1, 2013., 2013
Leishmania spp. are protozoa responsible for leishmaniasis, a neglected disease that kills up to 50,000 people every year. Current therapies mainly rely on antimonial drugs that are inadequate because of their poor efficacy and safety and increased drug resistance. An urgent need exists to find new and more affordable drugs.

High Geomagnetic Reversal Frequency During the Middle to Late Ediacaran (∼570 Ma) Constrained by Integrated Magneto‐ and Cyclostratigraphy

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, Volume 131, Issue 4, April 2026.
Abstract The Ediacaran–Cambrian (∼635–539 Ma) geomagnetic field is characterized by unusually high reversal rates and markedly weakened field strength. Estimates of these reversal frequencies can reveal key aspects of deep Earth dynamics and their potential influence on surface environments and early complex life.

Cooperative Reactivity of Methylene‐Linked Bis‐Triazolylidene Ligands in Tungsten‐Catalyzed Alcohol Dehydrogenation

open access: yesChemistryEurope, Volume 4, Issue 3, March 2026.
A tetracarbonyl tungsten complex bearing a bis‐triazolylidene ligand exhibits excellent catalytic activity in the acceptorless dehydrogenative coupling of 1‐phenylethanol and 2‐aminobenzyl alcohol to form 2‐phenylquinoline with H2 evolution. Mechanistic investigations combining experimental and DFT studies reveal the unprecedented base‐promoted ...

Description of pistillate flowers and conservation status of two species of Mollinedia (Monimiaceae, Laurales) from the Brazilian Atlantic forest

open access: yesNordic Journal of Botany, Volume 2025, Issue 10, October 2025.
Mollinedia is one of the richest genera of Monimiaceae, with approximately 60 species. In Brazil, 46 species of the genus occur, most of them in the Atlantic Forest. Mollinedia dolichotricha and Mollinedia ruschii are species endemic to the Atlantic Forest and described in the last decade.

Hydroxyalkyne–Bithiophene Derivatives: Synthesis and Antileishmanial Activity

open access: yesChemical Biology &Drug Design, Volume 106, Issue 2, August 2025.
Novel bithiophene derivatives with activity against Leishmania amazonensis were synthesized. All compounds exhibited good bioavailability in silico, and among them, BT‐1 was the most active, inducing redox imbalance in promastigotes. ABSTRACT Leishmaniasis is one of the most important neglected tropical diseases, prevalent in underdeveloped or ...

The Rapid Recovery of a Caatinga Dry Forest is Mediated by Disturbance‐Adapted Species

open access: yesBiotropica, Volume 57, Issue 4, July 2025.
Overall, regenerating and old‐growth forest stands exhibited similar plant diversity across all ontogenetic stages, with a negligible role played by forest stand age, precipitation, and chronic human disturbance. Species exclusively recorded as adults or seeds were mostly dispersed by animals, indicating that several species fail in either dispersing ...

Ten relevant questions for applying biodiversity offsetting in the Pantanal wetland

open access: yesConservation Science and Practice, Volume 7, Issue 7, July 2025.
Here, we formulated 10 questions that discuss and illustrate how offsetting can be applied to maintain wetland integrity, economic fairness, and biodiversity conservation in the Pantanal and Upper Paraguay River basin (UPRB) We provided examples of offsetting implementation opportunities, analyze spatial compliance deficits, and illustrate requirements
