Significance of Capacitor Voltage Balancing in Multilevel Inverter
2019 IEEE International Conference on Innovations in Communication, Computing and Instrumentation (ICCI), 2019In the recent trends, the use of multilevel inverter is rapidly increasing due to its good performance compared to conventional inverter. In this paper, the performance of Nested Neutral Point Clamped Multilevel inverter (NNPC) is presented. NNPC is a Hybrid type of Multilevel inerter which is nothing but the combination of two classical topologies ...

Capacitor voltage balancing control for series MMC tap
IECON 2017 - 43rd Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2017The series HVDC tap based on modular multilevel converter (MMC) has been proposed to provide power supply for rural places. However, most of current capacitor voltage balancing control strategies are not suitable for series MMC tap. In this paper, the principle of power transfer between phases, arms and sub-modules (SMs) in a series MMC are analyzed. A

A New Nine-Level Voltage Source Inverter with Capacitor Voltage Balancing
IECON 2018 - 44th Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2018In this paper, a new nine-level voltage source inverter for medium-voltage high-power applications is proposed. The proposed topology is a combination of the active nested neutral-point clamped inverter and the flying capacitor inverter. A carrier-based sinusoidal pulse width modulation scheme is developed to balance the voltage of the flying ...

Capacitor voltage balancing in a 5-L full-bridge flying capacitor inverter
2017 Brazilian Power Electronics Conference (COBEP), 2017An active control method to balance the flying capacitor's voltage is presented for a single-phase full-bridge flying capacitor inverter. Based on the equations of flying capacitors, an analytical method that represents the natural capacitor's voltage balancing is introduced.

Capacitor Voltage Balancing of Flying Capacitor Multilevel Converters by Space Vector PWM
IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 2012Proper operation of a multilevel flying capacitor converter (FCC) necessitates a closed-loop voltage balancing strategy. This paper proposes a space vector modulation (SVM)-based approach that benefits from the switching state redundancy of an n-level FCC to implicitly carry out the voltage balancing task within the switching strategy.

Capacitor voltage balancing in full binary combination schema flying capacitor multilevel inverters
IEEE Power Electronics Letters, 2003Recently, the full binary combination schema (FBCS) method has been introduced to control the flying capacitor multilevel inverter. This method has the primary advantage that the number of voltage levels can be increased for a given number of semiconductor devices when compared to the conventional control methods.
