Processor, I/O path, and DASD configuration capacity
IBM Systems Journal, 1981This paper extends a particular capacity planning approach to include usage accounting by business element of Input/output path and Direct Access Storage Device resources. A simple nonlinear procedure is outlined to size host configurations that can process workloads at specified rates.

Explanation for the configurational heat capacity of ordered phases
Physical Review B, 1999Recently, an intriguing ``W shape'' has been reported for the curve of the configurational heat capacity versus composition. This feature is calculated in ordered phases with various methods. A detailed explanation has not been published, so a brief derivation and explanation of its origin is in order.

Disorder, configurational relaxations and heat capacity of glasses
Phase Transitions, 1985Abstract Thermally activated translational and/or rotational motions of groups of atoms or molecules occur in localized regions of the rigid matrix of glasses, glassy liquid crystals and glassy crystals. These are observed by dielectric and mechanical relaxation spectroscopy at temperatures well below Tg and show features which are remarkably similar ...

Abstract Sandwich pipes (SPs) offer sensible and cost-effective design alternative for extraction of oil and gas in deep and harsh waters. By employing the potential thermal insulation properties offered by the core material used in SPs, and the structural integrity provided by the sandwich mechanics, SPs can be optimally designed to provide safe ...

Journal of Business Logistics, 2007
This paper examines the simultaneous impact of demand variability, demand skew, and configuration capacity on customer service in a configure‐to‐order environment. Simulation is done in ARENA and data are analyzed using ANOVA and MANOVA. The findings indicate that the factors studied have differential impact on performance both individually and ...

Capacity and optimum configuration of displays for group viewing
Information Display, 1966ABSTRACT Deterioration of legibility with increasing viewing distance and obliquity limits the amount of information a display screen can convey to an immobile audience. The resulting display capacity and the degree of its utilization determine the efficiency of the display, where efficiency relates audience area to screen size for ...

Configurations of large capacity ultrasonic complex vibration sources
2002 IEEE Ultrasonics Symposium, 2002. Proceedings., 2003Configurations of large capacity ultrasonic complex vibration sources with multiple longitudinal transducers are proposed and studied. The ultrasonic complex vibration systems are effective and essential for new applications in various industries. The complex vibration source of 27 kHz consists of a complex transverse rod, a circular disk part and six ...
