Microfluidics Development at Berkeley [PDF]
Richard A. Mathies is professor emeritus of Chemistry at the University of California, Berkeley. In this contribution he summarizes his journey through microfluidics over the past 30 years from the invention of Capillary Array Electrophoresis in the 1990s to recent attempts to launch a microfluidic system into space.

AAVR Expression is Essential for AAV Vector Transduction in Sensory Hair Cells
Decreased sensitivity to AAV vector transduction in the outer hair cells (OHCs) of adult mice is primarily attributed to reduction of AAVR (Kiaa0319l; Au040320). Knockout of AAVR reduces AAV vector transduction efficiency in both inner hair cells (IHCs) and OHCs in neonatal mice.

Polyelectrolytes in electric fields: Measuring the dynamical effective charge and effective friction [PDF]
We use a coarse-grained molecular dynamics model to study the electrophoretic behaviour of flexible polyelectrolyte chains. We first characterize the static properties of the model with respect to the chain length, the polyelectrolyte concentration, additional salt and the influence of an applied external field.

Awkt: A Physicochemical Parameter Estimation Tool for Capillary Zone Electrophoresis [PDF]
We present a computational parameter estimation tool aimed at assisting molecule characterization applying nonlinear least-squares optimization to a specific closed-form solution of a capillary electrophoretic transport problem. Numerical estimates for the respective physicochemical parameters are generated.

Sweat chloride quantification using capillary electrophoresis
Background: Cystic fibrosis (CF) is the less rare and severe genetic disease among the European population. Biochemical diagnosis of CF is based on the demonstration of increased chloride concentration in sweat samples, obtained during the sweat test (ST)

This study presents an innovative oral microalgae‐based biosystem to inhibit tumor growth, reduce PD‐1 expression, and activate immune responses of hepatocellular carcinoma. When combined with enhanced irreversible electroporation treatment, it demonstrates a synergistic effect that effectively reduces the tumor burden and enhances the tumor immune ...

DNA Origami‐Cyanine Nanocomplex for Precision Imaging of KRAS‐Mutant Pancreatic Cancer Cells
DNA origami‐cyanine (Do‐Cy) nanocomplexes are synthesized to selectively image KRAS‐mutant pancreatic cancer cells in the highly desmoplastic tumors. This study shows that the Do‐Cy nanocomplexes are preferentially internalized by cancer cells over other stroma cells via KRAS‐dependent macropinocytosis.
