A Microfluidic Multiplex Sorter for Strain Development

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, Volume 10, Issue 6, March 18, 2025.
A new multiplex method for high‐throughput screening of yeast strains based on glucoamylase production is presented. Droplets containing single mutant yeast cells are incubated for enzyme production. A sorting platform divides mutants by their high‐ and mid‐activity levels.

Recombinants between Deformed wing virus and Varroa destructor virus-1 may prevail in Varroa destructor-infested honeybee colonies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We have used high-throughput Illumina sequencing to identify novel recombinants between deformed wing virus (DWV) and Varroa destructor virus-1 (VDV-1), which accumulate to higher levels than DWV in both honeybees and Varroa destructor mites.

High-Throughput Fluorescence Polarization Assay for Chemical Library Screening against Anti-Apoptotic Bcl-2 Family Member Bfl-1

open access: yesJournal of biomolecular screening, 2012
Overexpression of the anti-apoptotic Bcl-2 family proteins occurs commonly in human cancers. Bfl-1 is highly expressed in some types of malignant cells, contributing significantly to tumor cell survival and chemoresistance.

Harnessing Carbenoid Reactivity From Imidazoles and Oxiranes

open access: yesAdvanced Synthesis &Catalysis, EarlyView.
The combination of azole compounds and oxiranes exhibits carbenoid reactivity at elevated temperatures, as demonstrated by the successful benzoin condensation of aromatic aldehydes. Using this catalytic system to polymerize bifunctional aldehyde/oxirane monomers yields thermosets with glass transition temperatures above 100°C.

Understanding Cytotoxicity and Cytostaticity in a High-Throughput Screening Collection. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
While mechanisms of cytotoxicity and cytostaticity have been studied extensively from the biological side, relatively little is currently understood regarding areas of chemical space leading to cytotoxicity and cytostasis in large compound collections ...

Phase‐Separation of YAP Mediates AJUBA Super Enhancer Activation to Promote Aberrant Mitosis in Breast Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
YAP undergoes phase separation to activate the AJUBA super‐enhancer, driving aberrant mitosis through spindle checkpoint dysregulation in breast cancer. This study uncovers a mechanistic link between YAP condensates, super‐enhancer activation, and aneuploidy formation.

Disengaging the Engine: Histone Deacetylases 1 and 2‐Mediated Acetylation of Hexokinase‐2 Regulates Energy Metabolism in Microglia Following Intracerebral Hemorrhage

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that HDAC1/2 knockout in microglia alleviates neurological deficits, preserves white matter, and accelerates hematoma clearance after ICH. HDAC1/2 inhibition reduces HK2 acetylation, shifts metabolism from glycolysis to fatty acid oxidation, reduces inflammation, and enhances phagocytosis.
