Posterior Arthroscopic Capsular Release in Frozen Shoulder
Purpose: the aims of our study were to assess the overall effectiveness of arthroscopic capsular release and to determine if the addition of a posterior capsular release had any benefit, particularly in relation to internal rotation. Methods: forty-eight ...

Abstract The morphogenetic role of two types of functional matrix-periosteal and capsular—in craniofacial growth is examined. The term growth is defined inclusively to include the changes in size and shape as well as changes in spatial position in time.

Two patients with diabetes had extracapsular cataract extraction with intraocular lens (IOL) implantation. Both developed rubeosis iridis and neovascularization within the lens capsule supporting the IOL, a condition we have termed rubeosis capsular. Argon laser treatment was ineffective in both patients.

Capsular bag shrinkage after implantation of a capsular bending or capsular tension ring
Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, 2005To evaluate the influence of a capsular bending ring (CBR) or tension ring (CTR) on capsular bag shrinkage.Department of Ophthalmology, Johannes Gutenberg-University, and Department of Medical Biometry, Epidemiology and Informatics, University of Mainz, Mainz, Germany. In 92 eyes of 92 patients, a capsular measuring ring (CMR) was implanted after ...

A 42-year-old man with ataxic tetraparesis is reported. Computerized tomography showed bilateral and symmetrical lacunar infarcts at the junctions of the posterior limb of the internal capsule and the corona radiata. Previously this clinical syndrome had been reported only with a lesion in the pons.

The major factor determining the different pathogenicities of meningococci and their close relatives, the gonococci, is the polysaccharide capsule. The capsule protects meningococci from complement attack and phagocytosis and is indispensable for systemic spread of the bacteria during sepsis and meningitis (1-5).

Myofibroblasts and Capsular Tissue Tension in Breast Capsular Contracture
Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, 2010This study aimed to observe the relationship between the number of myofibroblasts, the tensile strength of the breast implant capsule, and the degree of breast capsular contracture. The study enrolled 21 women with 31 capsular contractures after aesthetic breast augmentation.
