Dislocation of capsular bag with intraocular lens and capsular tension ring
Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, 2006We report a case in which the capsular bag with an intraocular lens (IOL) and a capsular tension ring (CTR) dislocated into the vitreous. The dislocated foldable posterior chamber IOL and CTR were removed with a pars plana vitrectomy and exchanged with a scleral-fixated IOL. No complications occurred intraoperatively or postoperatively.

Surgical Repositioning of Dislocated Capsular Tension Rings
Ophthalmology, 2005To present techniques and results of surgical repositioning of subluxed and dislocated capsular tension rings (CTRs).Retrospective interventional case series.Eleven patients with a previously implanted CTR in-the-bag for zonular weakness who presented with CTR-intraocular lens (IOL)-capsular bag decentration who underwent surgical repositioning.Data ...

The capsular tension ring: Designs, applications, and techniques
Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, 2000Originally, the open poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) capsular tension ring (CTR) was designed to compensate for zonular defects or to stretch the posterior capsule in highly myopic eyes not receiving an intraocular lens (IOL). We address the variety of subsequent designs, applications, and techniques that have evolved.

Anterior dislocation of a Morcher capsular tension ring
Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, 2011We report the rare complication of anterior dislocation of a capsular tension ring (CTR) and a simple management option, with excellent results and no inflammatory or pressure-related sequelae.

Capsular bag shrinkage after implantation of a capsular bending or capsular tension ring
Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, 2005To evaluate the influence of a capsular bending ring (CBR) or tension ring (CTR) on capsular bag shrinkage.Department of Ophthalmology, Johannes Gutenberg-University, and Department of Medical Biometry, Epidemiology and Informatics, University of Mainz, Mainz, Germany. In 92 eyes of 92 patients, a capsular measuring ring (CMR) was implanted after ...

[Capsular bent ring. Improvement of the capsular tension ring].
Der Ophthalmologe : Zeitschrift der Deutschen Ophthalmologischen Gesellschaft, 1999Since the first introduction of the capsular ring in 1991, the open capsular tension ring proved to be efficient in various indications and applications: e.g. in zonular dialysis or or weakness, with integrated tinted sector shield in sector or aniridia, to facilitate primary posterior capsulorhexis, for prophylaxis of intraocular lens decentration or ...

Effect of the Morcher capsular tension ring on refractive outcome
Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, 2006To evaluate the effect of the Morcher capsular tension ring (CTR) on refractive outcome in patients having cataract extraction by phacoemulsification complicated by zonular instability.Dean A. McGee Eye Institute, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, USA.A retrospective case-control series of 19 eyes of 19 patients with a CTR were compared with a control ...

Capsular tension ring in a patient with Weill-Marchesani syndrome
Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, 1998Weill-Marchesani patients with cataractous lenses may presnet a surgical challenge in the presence of zonular weakness and microsherophakia. A 52-year-old Weill-Marchesani patient developed zonular dehiscence during capsule contraction after cataract extraction in her right eye. Use of a poly(methyl methacrylate) capsular tension ring in the second eye

Fishtail on a line technique for capsular tension ring insertion
Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, 2014We describe a capsular tension ring (CTR) insertion technique that is a modification of the previously described fishtail technique. A suture line is used to pull the leading eyelet out through the main incision to form the fish configuration. Similar to the fishtail technique, this insertion technique minimizes the risk for zonular damage or a capsule

Technique for removal of a capsular tension ring from the vitreous
Ophthalmology, 2003To report a new technique for safely and quickly removing a displaced capsular tension ring from the vitreous cavity. Two interventional case reports. The authors retrospectively reviewed the charts of two patients with displaced capsular tension rings (CTRs).Surgical removal of the displaced CTRs was performed in two patients.Visual and anatomic ...
