Double-balloon enteroscopy for retrieving retained small-bowel video capsule endoscopes: a systematic review

Scandinavian Journal of Gastroenterology, 2019
Background and aim: Capsule retention is the most common adverse event associated with video capsule endoscopy. The use of double-balloon enteroscopy-assisted capsule endoscope retrieval has been increasingly reported in recent years.

Microrobots for a capsule endoscope

2009 IEEE/ASME International Conference on Advanced Intelligent Mechatronics, 2009
Various actuators have been studied to develop micro robots for a capsule endoscope. In particular, some locomotive mechanisms based on the SMA (Shape Memory Alloy) actuator, the PZT actuator, the Polymer actuator, and the micro motor have been actively studied to fabricate a microrobot for a capsule endoscope.

Endoscopic retrieval of a capsule endoscope from a Zenker’s diverticulum

Diseases of the Esophagus, 2005
We report a case of a capsule endoscope lodged within a Zenker's diverticulum. The capsule was safely removed endoscopically. Safe re-insertion of the capsule was achieved using an overtube placed with a Savary dilator. While capsule endoscopy should be avoided in patients with large esophageal diverticula or dysphagia, this method may be used to ...

Endoscopic placement of the small-bowel video capsule by using a capsule endoscope delivery device

Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, 2007
Capsule endoscopy performed via the traditional peroral route is technically challenging in patients with dysphagia, gastroparesis, and/or abnormal upper-GI (UGI) anatomy. To describe the indications and outcomes of cases in which the AdvanCE capsule endoscope delivery device, which has recently been cleared by the Food and Drug Administration, was used.

SoC for Capsule Endoscope

2013
TAn application specific SoC with bidirectional wireless communication for the wireless capsule endoscope system is presented in this chapter. The SoC has an integrated ultra-low-power transceiver featured with asymmetrical data rate (3Mbps transmitting and 64kbps receiving). A dedicated ARQ scheme is designed to maintain an adequately low BER for data

Design of Endoscopic Capsule With Multiple Cameras

IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Circuits and Systems, 2015
In order to reduce the miss rate of the wireless capsule endoscopy, in this paper, we propose a new system of the endoscopic capsule with multiple cameras. A master-slave architecture, including an efficient bus architecture and a four level clock management architecture, is applied for the Multiple Cameras Endoscopic Capsule (MCEC).

Endoscopic excision of large capsulated lipomas

British Journal of Plastic Surgery, 1996
The technique of endoscopic excision of large capsulated lipomas is presented and the versatility of this method is discussed based on our clinical experience. We have applied this new technique in 6 cases. In all cases the lipoma was completely removed in one piece through a single incision, up to 1.5 cm in length.

Endoscopic Capsule Biopsy of the Small Intestine

Journal of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition, 1988
Summary:In this article, we describe a technique for obtaining jejunal biopsies endoscopically using an infant Crosby or Watson capsule. The method is quick, safe, and may be particularly useful if radiological screening is unavailable.

Antenna performance for localization of capsule endoscope

2014 8th International Symposium on Medical Information and Communication Technology (ISMICT), 2014
Recent developments in capsule endoscopy have highlighted the need for accurate techniques to estimate the location of a capsule endoscope in the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. Besides the channel propagation environment that can highly influence the accuracy of the capsule location estimation, the deployed antenna properties and its radiation pattern ...

Inchworm-Like Microrobot for Capsule Endoscope

2004 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Biomimetics, 2005
The conventional endoscopes generate pains and discomfort to patients due to the stiffness of their body and cannot reach to small intestines. Therefore, the wireless capsule-type endoscope, M2A, has been developed. However, commercialized capsule-type endoscopes move passively by peristaltic waves (and the gravity), which has limitation for doctors to
