Multiple environmental DNA (eDNA) methods were compared with each other and with fyke netting for detecting invasive brown bullhead catfish. eDNA sampling combined with catfish‐specific metabarcoding provides sensitive detection and effectively complements traditional netting for biosecurity.

ABSTRACT Stable isotope analysis (SIA) provides essential information toward a better understanding of trophic ecology. However, the interpretation of SIA results relies on assumptions about the trophic discrimination factor (TDF), which aims to improve the accuracy but may lead to bias.

Worldwide Invasions of Centrarchidae: The Dark Side of the Sunfish Family
ABSTRACT Freshwater fish invasions are major drivers of global ecological change, disrupting native biodiversity and ecosystem functions. However, many invasive fish hold significant socioeconomic value, resulting in conflict over their management. Centrarchidae, which are globally distributed and are important for sportfishing and aquaculture, are now

Chromosomal localization and variation analysis of 5S rDNA in autotriploid Carassius auratus
Polyploidization can induce a flurry of genetic events and plays an important role in speciation. In this study, we comparatively analyzed the molecular organization, chromosomal locus in natural autotriploid (3nCC, 3n = 150) and artificial autotriploid ...

Distribution and impacts of Carassius species (Cyprinidae) in Turkey: a review [PDF]
Biological invasions have caused considerable disruption to nativeecosystems throughout the world through predation, habitat alteration, competition and hybridisation with native species and introduction of diseases or parasites.
