Connections of the corpus cerebelli in the green sunfish and the common goldfish [PDF]
Examination of the connections of the corpus cerebelli in one perciform (Lepomis cyanellus) and one cypriniform teleost (Carassius auratus) reveal that ipsilateral afferent connections in both species arise from an anterior group of nuclei in the ...

Distance estimation in the Goldfish (Carassius auratus)
AbstractNeurophysiological advances have given us exciting insights into the systems responsible for spatial mapping in mammals. However, we are still lacking information on the evolution of these systems and whether the underlying mechanisms identified are universal across phyla, or specific to the species studied.

The Influence of Body Size and Hemoglobin Multiplicity on Critical Oxygen Threshold in Red Drum (Sciaenops ocellatus) [PDF]
Hypoxia is common in marine environments and fishes use a suite of cardiorespiratory adjustments to defend aerobic metabolism, including reducing standard metabolic rate (SMR), the minimum metabolic rate needed to sustain life at a specified temperature,

Gill Sphaerosporosis in Goldfish (Carassius auratus) [PDF]
Infections caused by a Sphaerospora sp. resembling S. chinensis are reported for the first time in goldfish (Carassius auratus) from North America. The myxosporean was found in the respiratory epithelium of the gill of pond-reared fish. Spores from stained tissue sections were spherical with an equal mean length and width of 6.3 microns.

Effect of acute copper sulfate exposure on olfactory responses to amino acids and pheromones in goldfish (Carassius auratus) [PDF]
Exposure of olfactory epithelium to environmentally relevant concentrations of copper disrupts olfaction in fish. To examine the dynamics of recovery at both functional and morphological levels after acute copper exposure, unilateral exposure of ...

Kidney activity increases in copper exposed goldfish ( Carassius auratus auratus ) [PDF]
In the present study, the effect of copper was examined in the common goldfish (Carassius auratus auratus). Fish were fasted and exposed to either a high (0.84μM), a low (0.34μM) or a control copper concentration (0.05μM) for 1 and 7days. Swimming performance was not affected by either fasting or copper exposure. Food deprivation alone had no effect on

Goussia trichogasteri n. sp. (Apicomplexa: Eimenidae) infecting the aquarium-cultured golden gourami Trichogaster trichopterus trichopterus [PDF]
Goussia trichogasteri n. sp. is described from the gut of the aquarium fish Trichogaster trichopterus trichopterus. Gamogonic stages develop epicellularly in the gut epithelium. Oocysts are shed in early stage of sporulation.

Possible multiple evolution of indirect telencephalo-cerebellar pathways in teleosts: studies in Carassius auratus and Pantodon buchholzi [PDF]
Among vertebrates, telencephalo-pontine systems exist only in birds and mammals. However, three nuclei in the diencephalon and mesencephalon of teleost fishes have been indicated — analogous to the pons — to represent relay stations between telencephalon

Afferent connections of the valvula cerebelli in two teleosts, the common goldfish and the green sunfish [PDF]
The afferent connections of the valvula cerebelli were examined in one cypriniform teleost (Carassius auratus) and one perciform teleost (Lepomis cyanellus) with the use of horseradish peroxidase as a retrograde tracer.
