Whole genome duplication events have occurred frequently during the course of vertebrate evolution. To better understand the influence of polyploidization on the fish genome, we herein used the autotetraploid Carassius auratus (4n = 200, RRRR) (4nRR ...

Clonal diversity and genealogical relationships of gibel carp in four hatcheries [PDF]
To conserve and utilize the genetic pool of gynogenetic gibel carp (Carassius auratus gibelio), the Fangzheng and Qihe stock hatcheries have been established in China. However, little information is available on the amount of genetic variation within and

Hoferellosis in goldfish Carassius auratus and gibel carp Carassius auratus gidelio
Hoferellus carassii is a common parasite of goldfish Carassius auratus and gibel carp C. auratus gibelio. Early trophozoite stages of H. carassii were found intracellularly, in epithelial cells of renal tubules. Plasmodial stages, however, had a coelozoic way of life, inhabiting the lumen of renal tubules, ureters and preferentially the urinary bladder.

An integrated scRNA-seq and scATAC-seq analysis of retina from the goldfish, Carassius auratus, reveals global biases in expression patterns between the two (L and S) subgenomes that resulted from ancestral whole-genome duplication.

Chromosomal localization and variation analysis of 5S rDNA in autotriploid Carassius auratus
Polyploidization can induce a flurry of genetic events and plays an important role in speciation. In this study, we comparatively analyzed the molecular organization, chromosomal locus in natural autotriploid (3nCC, 3n = 150) and artificial autotriploid ...

Graphical outline of history of the genus Carassius occurrence in the Europe
From the phylogeographical point of view, status of the genus Carassius underwent major transformation within the Europe territory. Apart of two native members (Carassius carassius and diploid biotype of Carassius gibelio), we recognize four non ...

We demonstrated that Awaous tajasica performs facultative air breathing under experimental conditions of dissolved oxygen limitation, retaining air bubbles in the buccal cavity during gill ventilation. Morpho‐functional evidence indicates the use of atmospheric oxygen as a respiratory support under conditions of low water oxygenation.
