Biodegradable Polymers for Plant Nutrient Delivery and Recovery

open access: yesMacromolecular Bioscience, EarlyView.
This review article discusses the use of biodegradable polymers to address several grand challenges in agriculture: to improve the delivery of nitrogen and phosphorous to crops, to optimize plant uptake, and to enhance the recovery of these nutrients from wastewater, to recycle them and reduce water pollution. Abstract The current use of fertilizers is

High Molar Mass Non‐Isocyanate Polyurethanes by Transurethanization of Diols with Isophorone‐Based Bismethylcarbamate

open access: yesMacromolecular Chemistry and Physics, EarlyView.
High molar mass polyurethanes are achieved using potassium carbonate (K2CO3) as a catalyst, confirming that the polytransurethanization route is a good alternative to the isocyanate one. Abstract The synthesis of thermoplastic polyurethanes (TPU) has been associated with sustainability issues, prompting the development of alternative synthesis routes ...

Investigation of the Mechanical Behaviors of Waterborne Polyurethane: The Critical Influence of Hard Segment Content Over Various Strain Rates

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering, EarlyView.
This study explores how hard segment content (HS) modulates waterborne polyureathane's (WPU's) dynamic mechanical properties under low/high strain rates. Increasing HS enhances hydrogen bonding and microphase separation, with abundant hard domains acting as physical crosslinks.

On‐Resin Recycling of Acid‐Labile Linker Enables the Reuse of Solid Support for Fmoc‐Based Solid Phase Synthesis

open access: yesMacromolecular Rapid Communications, EarlyView.
This study introduces the first recyclable and reusable resin for Fmoc‐based solid phase synthesis (SPS) of oligamide‐based structures through the regeneration of a cyclic acetal‐based linker on Tentagel resins. Even after multiple recycling and reuse cycles of the solid phase, consistently high yields and high‐purity products are obtained. Abstract In

From Formica® to FormiCAN: One‐Pot Synthesis of Melamine‐based Covalent Adaptable Network Endowed With High Transition Temperature and Fast Stress Relaxation

open access: yesMacromolecular Rapid Communications, EarlyView.
Melamine‐based resins are benchmark materials in the field of laminates and composites, and this beyond the world‐famous Formica® brand, but these thermosets are not reprocessable and hardly degradable. This study describes a melamine‐based CAN containing N,O‐acetal exchangeable functions, obtained via a one‐pot and solvent‐free microwave‐assisted ...
