Biodegradable Polymers for Plant Nutrient Delivery and Recovery

open access: yesMacromolecular Bioscience, EarlyView.
This review article discusses the use of biodegradable polymers to address several grand challenges in agriculture: to improve the delivery of nitrogen and phosphorous to crops, to optimize plant uptake, and to enhance the recovery of these nutrients from wastewater, to recycle them and reduce water pollution. Abstract The current use of fertilizers is

Synthesis of High Molecular Weight Isocyanate‐Free Polyurethanes by Transurethanization of Dimethyl Carbamate With Mixtures of Long and Short Chain Diols

open access: yesMacromolecular Chemistry and Physics, EarlyView.
High molar mass non‐isocyanate polyurethanes were prepared by transurethanization of dimethyldodecane‐1,12‐diyldicarbonate with various long and short diols in the presence of potassaium alkoxide. ABSTRACT Due to sustainability challenges associated with conventional polyurethanes (PUs), non‐isocyanate polyurethanes (NIPUs) synthesized via ...

Next Generation Reusable Solid Support for Fmoc‐Based Solid‐Phase Synthesis

open access: yesMacromolecular Chemistry and Physics, EarlyView.
This study presents an efficient on‐resin cyclic acetal formation strategy for resin reuse in Fmoc‐based SPS. The new single‐step approach avoids on‐resin hydrolysis and achieves near‐quantitative yields with fewer resources and reduced reaction times.

Fabrication of Multifunctional Nanofiber Mats by Emulsion Electrospinning of TPU/Fish Skin Gelatin Incorporating Plant Extract‐Based Therapeutic Oil for Wound Dressing Applications

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering, EarlyView.
This study not only combines TPU with fish skin gelatin (FSG) and H. perforatum oil (HPO) through emulsion electrospinning for the first time, but also reduces the TPU fiber diameter, which is crucial for enhancing wound healing. Overall results indicate that this combination can enhance wound healing and antimicrobial efficancy, making the resulting ...

Investigation of the Mechanical Behaviors of Waterborne Polyurethane: The Critical Influence of Hard Segment Content Over Various Strain Rates

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering, EarlyView.
This study explores how hard segment content (HS) modulates waterborne polyureathane's (WPU's) dynamic mechanical properties under low/high strain rates. Increasing HS enhances hydrogen bonding and microphase separation, with abundant hard domains acting as physical crosslinks.
