Stability of Organic Photovoltaics: From Root Causes to Advanced Analytical Techniques

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
This review explains the causes and mechanisms of degradation in organic photovoltaics (OPVs). It explores how various factors, including heat, light, oxygen, and inherent material properties, influence OPV stability. The study categorizes degradation pathways and analyzes their impact on device performance, providing insights into the fundamental ...

Oligonucleotides Featuring a Covalently Mercurated 6‐Phenylcarbazole Residue as High‐Affinity Hybridization Probes for Thiopyrimidine‐Containing Sequences

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Volume 28, Issue 69, December 9, 2022., 2022
Getting back to (nucleo)base: Oligonucleotides incorporating a central 1‐ or 8‐mercuri‐6‐phenyl‐1H‐carbazole residue show great promise as high‐affinity hybridization probes, discriminating between all canonical nucleobases as well as 2‐ and 4‐thiothymines by melting temperature margins of at least 5 °C.

Synthesis of Carbazoles and Carbazole-Containing Heterocycles via Rhodium-Catalyzed Tandem Carbonylative Benzannulations.

open access: yesJournal of Organic Chemistry, 2016
Polycyclic aromatic compounds are important constituents of pharmaceuticals and other materials. We have developed a series of Rh-catalyzed tandem carbonylative benzannulations for the synthesis of tri-, tetra-, and pentacyclic heterocycles from ...

Highly Stable Sn─Pb Perovskite Solar Cells Enabled by Phenol‐Functionalized Hole Transporting Material

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Stability is the key challenge for Sn─Pb perovskites. This work tackles the critical stability issue by introducing phenol hydroxylation in the hole transporting material (HTM). The phenol group enhances oxidation resistance and regulates crystallization kinetics, while fluorine improves energy alignment.

Enhancing Stability of Inverted Perovskite Solar Cells via Buried Interface Modification Using In‐Situ Crosslinked Thiol‐Ene Polymer

open access: yesAdvanced Energy and Sustainability Research, EarlyView.
Two crosslinkable molecules are introduced into the buried interface of perovskite to regulate the interfacial contact between [2‐(3,6‐dimethoxy‐9H‐carbazol‐9‐yl)ethyl]phosphonic acid and perovskite. The cross‐linked interfacial layer can control the crystallization process of the perovskite thin film and adjust the energy level alignment.

Revealing Collaborative Effects of Binary Additives on Regulating Precursor Crystallization Toward Highly Efficient Perovskite Solar Cells

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
The introduction of both PMAI and 2PACz into the precursor effectively cleaves edge‐shared Pb‐I octahedra to facilitate the transformation from PbI2 to PbI3− complexes as prenucleation clusters, and thus produces much larger colloidal particles with accelerated nucleation. Simultaneously, the crystallization in both spin‐coating and annealing processes

Using Color to Control Conformation in a Chemical System Containing Multiple Tricyanofuran Photoacids

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
In a solution of two metastable photoacids with contrasting absorption maxima, the solution pH may be control by varying the wavelength of the visible light input. This pH change governs the interaction between the Zn2+ cation and two competing anionic chiral ligands, detected by a change in circular dichroism (CD) spectra.
