Effect of Hot Rolling on Microstructural Evolution and Wear Behaviors of G20CrNi2MoA Bearing Steel

open access: yesMetals, 2021
Hot rolling can improve the mechanical properties after heat treatment by improving the microstructure. The effect of hot rolling (HR) deformation on the microstructural transformation of G20CrNi2MoA bearing steel in the subsequent CQT (carburizing ...

The Solid State \u3csup\u3e13\u3c/sup\u3eC-NMR Spectra of Some Carbides [PDF]

open access: yes, 1978
The utility of NMR spectroscopy to the study of liquids or solids dissolved in liquids is well known. This technique has been used infrequently to studies in the solid state[I,2]. Work has been done on diamond, graphite and coa113-6].

Processes, microstructure and properties of vanadium microalloyed steels [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Vanadium as an important alloying element in steels was initially associated with the properties achieved following tempering. Interest in the microstructure was stimulated by the advent of transmission electron microscopes with a resolution of ~1nm ...

EBSD Study of Creep‐Induced Lattice Misorientation in MgO‐Particle‐Reinforced Austenitic Steel Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Creep experiments at 900°C on coarse‐grained steel‐ceramic composites containing recycled magnesia reveal that higher ceramic volume fractions significantly enhance the creep resistance. Detailed EBSD investigations identify subgrain formation in the steel matrix as the dominant deformation mechanism.

Nitrogen Configuration of Polybenzoxazine Carbide

open access: yesHigh Temperature Materials and Processes, 2015
Carbon materials should have specific centers for its functionalities. In this study, the specific centers of polybenzoxazine carbides were studied for the first time. Three classical benzoxazine monomers were chose as the object.

First-principles phase diagram calculations for the HfC–TiC, ZrC–TiC, and HfC–ZrC solid solutions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
We report first-principles phase diagram calculations for the binary systems HfC–TiC, TiC–ZrC, and HfC–ZrC. Formation energies for superstructures of various bulk compositions were computed with a plane-wave pseudopotential method. They in turn were used

Reduction of Oxide Inclusions During the High‐Frequency Welding of Steel via a Nonthermal Ar/H2 Plasma Jet

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
High‐frequency (HF) welding of steel is limited by oxide inclusions that degrade weld quality. This study demonstrates, for the first time, the integration of a nonthermal Ar/H2 dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma jet into HF welding. Local plasma treatment provides effective shielding and in‐situ oxide reduction, resulting in markedly fewer and ...

THE INFLUENCE OF THE CHEMICAL COMPOSITION OF WEAR-RESISTANT CAST IRON ON THE INTERPHASE DISTRIBUTION OF MN AFTER ANNEALING AT 690°C

open access: yesNauka ta progres transportu, 2020
Purpose. The article is aimed to obtain the regression dependences of manganese distribution between carbides and the metal base on the content of pig iron C, Cr, Mn and Ni after annealing at 690°C. Methodology.

Physical metallurgy of modern creep-resistant steel for steam power plants: microstructure and phase transformations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The fact that the microstructure of steel depends on its composition and the heat treatment given to it has been heavily exploited in the design of steel for power plant applications.

Effect of Oxygen Content on Surface and Subsurface Integrity During Turning of Ti–6Al–4V

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study examines how oxygen content in the ambient atmosphere affects the surface and subsurface properties of Ti–6Al–4V during turning. Results show that oxygen does not influence surface roughness. However, machining in an extremely high vacuum‐adequate atmosphere increases surface hardness by up to 7.8% and induces compressive residual stresses ...
