Resistivity Change Mechanism in the Carbon Dioxide Sequestration Process

open access: yesEnergy Science & Engineering
This study explores the variation law, influencing factors, and mechanisms of resistivity in the interaction between CO₂ and saltwater. This study used a hollow PEEK conductor to simulate core pores. With excellent thermal stability, mechanical strength,

E2A selectively regulates TGF‐β–induced apoptosis in KRAS‐mutant non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Ability to induce apoptosis by TGF‐β is frequently lost in advanced lung adenocarcinoma despite intact TGF‐β signaling. We identify E2A as a mutant KRAS–dependent mediator of resistance to TGF‐β–induced apoptosis. TGF‐β induces E2A via SMAD3 in mutant KRAS cells, and E2A silencing restores apoptosis and enhances radiation response in cell lines ...

Long‐term hippocampal alterations and cognitive impairment in a murine model of surgical sepsis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Using a mouse model of surgical sepsis, we tested long‐term memory and analyzed the transcriptome of single cells isolated from the hippocampus. Survivor mice showed worse memory, loss of certain brain cell subpopulations, and abnormal immune cell activity—suggesting that post‐sepsis brain alterations may be linked to cognitive deficits.

Acute caffeine treatment protects the developing retina from ischemia‐induced cell death

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Caffeine reduces cell death in the developing retina under ischemia (OGD). This effect does not involve BDNF upregulation or antioxidant pathways (NRF2/VEGF). Neuroprotection occurs mainly through adenosine A2A receptor antagonism, decreasing glutamate release and excitotoxicity, highlighting caffeine's potential as an acute neuroprotective agent in ...

Enhanced Stability and Charge Separation of InP by Assembling Al2O3 and Metallic Al for Photocatalytic Overall Water Splitting

open access: yesMolecules
Photocatalytic hydrogen evolution from water is a sustainable approach to producing clean energy and promoting sustainable development. However, the low efficiency of photocatalysts under visible light and even near-infrared irradiation remains the ...

Carbon footprint of Power-to-X derived dimethyl ether using the sorption enhanced DME synthesis process

open access: yesFrontiers in Sustainability, 2022
Dimethyl ether (DME) could have a promising future as a sustainable diesel fuel replacement as it requires only relatively minor engine modifications. It can be produced from renewable H2 and captured CO2 using Power-to-X technologies.

Pharmacological inhibition of the PERK pathway modulates hepatocellular carcinoma growth and immune signaling

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Pharmacological inhibition of PERK in a DEN‐induced mouse model of liver cancer does not reduce tumor burden but alters cellular stress signaling. Despite blocking PERK activity, downstream stress responses, including CHOP expression, remain active, suggesting compensatory mechanisms within the unfolded protein response that may influence tumor ...

The Role of Carbon Dioxide in Host-Finding by Mosquitoes (Diptera: Culicidae): A Review [PDF]

open access: yes, 1980
\ud From a critical review of the literature, it is concluded that the role of carbon dioxide in host-seeking by mosquitoes comprises two distinct actions.
