Electrical Conductivities of Conductors, Semiconductors, and Their Mixtures at Elevated Temperatures

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents a comprehensive review of temperature‐dependent electrical conductivity data for multiple material classes at elevated temperatures, highlighting a persistent conductivity gap between metals and semiconductors in the range of 102$\left(10\right)^{2}$– 107$\left(10\right)^{7}$ S/m. Metal–ceramic irregular metamaterials are proposed

Cellulose-Supported Ionic Liquids for Low-Cost Pressure Swing CO2 Capture

open access: yesFrontiers in Energy Research, 2017
Reducing the cost of capturing CO2 from point source emitters is a major challenge facing carbon capture, utilization, and storage. While solid ionic liquids (SoILs) have been shown to allow selective and rapid CO2 capture by pressure swing separation of

Carbon dioxide as the working fluid in heating and/or cooling systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Despite vigorous research the use of carbon dioxide in the market is still relatively small. This is due to legislation, and technical difficulties of developing efficient, acceptable carbon dioxide ...

Behaviour of carbon dioxide and water vapour flux densities from a disturbed raised peat bog [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Measurements of carbon dioxide and water vapour flux densities were carried out for a disturbed raised peat bog in the north of the Netherlands during an 18 month continuous experiment. Tussock grass (sp. Molinea caerulae) mainly dominated the vegetation

Effect of Laser Deoxidation on Adhesive‐Bonded Aluminum in an Oxygen‐Free Atmosphere

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates laser ablation of aluminum under oxygen‐free conditions. The goal is to produce oxide‐free substrates that enable improved adhesive bonding with epoxy. Optimized laser parameters (90% overlap, 300 µJ) combined with oxide‐free substrates result in the highest tensile strength of the adhesive bond.

Investigation of Thermo‐Chemical Processes in Commercial MgO‐C Refractory Bricks With and Without MgO‐C Recyclate at Elevated Temperatures

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates thermo‐chemical processes during high‐temperature testing of two commercial MgO‐C brick grades, one containing 47.5 wt.% MgO‐C recyclate. Using ETV, DTA/TG‐MS, XRD, and SEM/EDS/EBSD, mechanisms such as carbothermal reduction of magnesia, impurity incorporation into the secondary MgO surface layer, and calcium‐rich phase ...

Attenuating metal-substrate conjugation in atomically dispersed nickel catalysts for electroreduction of CO2 to CO

open access: yesNature Communications, 2022
Electroreduction of CO2 on single atom catalysts is often hindered by electron delocalization of the metal sites. To improve CO2 activation, here the authors functionalize the carbon support with cyano moieties, thereby attenuating metal-substrate ...
