Optimization and Kinetic Study of Palmitic Acid Esterification with Subcritical Methanol via Response Surface Methodology

open access: yesReactions
Biodiesel is a green, low-carbon, and renewable fuel with the potential to substitute fossil fuels. The effects of reaction temperature (175–290 °C), residence time (5–75 min), and molar ratio of methanol to palmitic acid (6:1–35:1) on the non-catalytic ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.
