Approximations to the spin of close Black-hole-Wolf-Rayet binaries [PDF]
Population synthesis studies of binary black-hole mergers often lack robust black-hole spin estimates as they cannot accurately follow tidal spin-up during the late black-hole-Wolf-Rayet evolutionary phase. We provide an analytical approximation of the dimensionless second-born black-hole spin given the binary orbital period and Wolf-Rayet stellar mass

XPS Supported INS and DRIFT Spectroscopy of sp2 Amorphous Carbons [PDF]
We carried out a joint analysis of the INS, DRIFT, and XPS spectra of a set of sp2 amorphous carbons of the highest carbonization rank representing natural substances (shungite carbon, anthraxolite, and anthracite), technical graphenes (laboratory reduced graphene oxides), and industrial products (carbon blacks).

Photoacoustic characteristics of carbon-based infrared absorbers [PDF]
We present an experimental comparison of photoacoustic responsivities of common highly absorbing carbon-based materials. The comparison was carried out with parameters relevant for photoacoustic power detectors and Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy: we covered a broad wavelength range from the visible red to far infrared (633 nm to 25 um ...

Isotopes in pyrogenic carbon: a review [PDF]
Pyrogenic carbon (PC; also known as biochar, charcoal, black carbon and soot) derived from natural and anthropogenic burning plays a major, but poorly quantified, role in the global carbon cycle.

ALD‐Assisted VO2 for Memristor Application
This work demonstrates a strategy for depositing VOx using thermal atomic layer deposition (ALD) followed by thermal annealing to synthesize VO2. The thin film and core/shell wire memristors exhibit excellent switching performance and are highly sensitive to ambient temperature.
