Geothermal model and development area of a fault-controlled geothermal zone along the Fujian coastal area of southeastern China

open access: yesNatural Gas Industry B
China is rich in geothermal resources, especially in Fujian Province, where 207 exposed hot springs have been discovered. The maximum temperature recorded in geothermal wells is above 121 °C in this province, indicating a high geothermal resource ...

Community Outreach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
International audienceThis Project was one of the first integrated CCS projects in the world at this scale, and the first to be authorised in France. The social dynamics of this project were particularly interesting at the local level.

High‐Temperature Nanoindentation of Metals: Assessing Thermal Drift, Frame Compliance, and Chemical Composition Effects on the Reported Mechanical Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Do not let thermal drift and instrument artifacts deceive high‐temperature nanoindentation results. We compare classical Oliver–Pharr and automatic image recognition analyses across steels and a Ni alloy to quantify these effects. Accounting for artifacts reveals systematic softening with temperature, while Cr and Ni additions boost resistance ...

Reinjection modeling in sandstone geothermal reservoirs: A case study of Dezhou geothermal heating demonstration project

open access: yesNatural Gas Industry B
To ensure the long-term and sustainable development and utilization of geothermal resources, the extracted geothermal water should be reinjected. Considering Guantao Formation in the Dezhou Area, the geothermal reinjection process is analyzed through ...

The Limits of Liability in Promoting Safe Geologic Sequestration of CO2 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Deployment of new technologies is vital to climate change policy, but it invariably poses difficult tradeoffs. Carbon capture and storage (“CCS”), which involves the capture and permanent burial of CO2 emissions, exemplifies this problem.

Understanding and Optimizing Li Substitution in P2‐Type Sodium Layered Oxides for Sodium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work explores Li‐substituted P2 layered oxides for Na‐ion batteries by crystallographic and electrochemical studies. The effect of lithium on superstructure orderings, on phase transitions during synthesis and electrochemical cycling and on the interplay of O‐ versus TM‐redox is revealed via various advanced techniques, including semi‐simultaneous

NanoMOF‐Based Multilevel Anti‐Counterfeiting by a Combination of Visible and Invisible Photoluminescence and Conductivity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents novel anti‐counterfeiting tags with multilevel security features that utilize additional disguise features. They combine luminescent nanosized Ln‐MOFs with conductive polymers to multifunctional mixed‐matrix membranes and powder composites. The materials exhibit visible/NIR emission and matrix‐based conductivity even as black bodies.

CO2 Highways for Europe: Modeling a Carbon Capture, Transport and Storage Infrastructure for Europe [PDF]

open access: yes
We present a mixed integer, multi-period, cost-minimizing carbon capture, transport and storage (CCTS) network model for Europe. The model incorporates endogenous decisions about carbon capture, pipeline and storage investments; capture, flow and ...

MnI‐Functionalized Covalent Organic Framework as Efficient Electrocatalyst for CO2 Reduction in a Catholyte‐Free Zero‐Gap Electrolyzer

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates the successful integration of a phenanthroline‐based 2D COF with MnI catalytic sites into a catholyte‐free membrane‐electrode‐assembly cell for CO2 electroreduction. The crystalline COF actively suppresses Mn⁰–Mn⁰ dimerization, achieving a turnover frequency of 617 h⁻¹ at 2.8 V (full‐cell potential), and enabling stable operation.

Influencing factors of the carbon sequestration coefficient in saline aquifers based on multiphase flow displacement experiments

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science
IntroductionThe volumetric method is the primary approach for calculating geological CO2 storage potential, with its accuracy largely dependent on the pore volume of reservoir rocks and the effective storage coefficient.
