Hybrid fiber-reinforced geopolymer composites with enhanced impact resistance for marine structures

open access: yesCase Studies in Construction Materials
To address the growing demands for corrosion-resistant marine infrastructure in chloride-rich environments, the mechanical properties and damage mechanisms of engineered geopolymer composites (EGC) reinforced with polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) fiber blends and

The Impact of Development on CO2 Emissions: A Case Study for Bangladesh until 2050 [PDF]

open access: yes
Bangladesh, a country with a population of 160 million, is currently contributing 0.14 percent to the world’s emission of carbon dioxide (CO2). However, mostly due to a growing population and economic growth (which both lead to an increase in energy ...

MOFs and COFs in Electronics: Bridging the Gap between Intrinsic Properties and Measured Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Metal‐organic frameworks (MOFs) and covalent organic frameworks (COFs) hold promise for advanced electronics. However, discrepancies in reported electrical conductivities highlight the importance of measurement methodologies. This review explores intrinsic charge transport mechanisms and extrinsic factors influencing performance, and critically ...

How megacities can achieve carbon peak through structural adjustments: an input–output perspective

open access: yesEnvironmental Research Letters
There is still a huge gap between the emissions pathways of megacities and the pathways to meeting the targets set by the Paris agreement. Compared with technological emission reductions, structural emission reduction can provide cities with more stable ...

A Review on N-Doped Carbon-Based Materials for the NH3-SCR Reaction

open access: yesNanomaterials
Nitrogen oxides (NOx), one of the major air pollutants, not only are key substances in forming acid rain and photochemical smog, but can also enter the stratosphere and damage the ozone layer to some extent.

Reducing Open‐Circuit Voltage Losses in Wide‐Bandgap FAPbBr3 Perovskite Solar Cells for Continuous Unassisted Light‐Driven Water Splitting

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The combination of formamidinium thiocyanate and 1,3‐propane diammonium iodide for bulk and top‐surface passivation, and a ternary fullerene blend to improve energy band alignment, suppresses energy losses in wide‐bandgap FAPbBr3 perovskite solar cells.

Tuning the Electronic Structure and Spin State of Fe─N─C Catalysts Using an Axial Oxygen Ligand and Fe Clusters for High‐Efficiency Rechargeable Zinc–Air Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A FeN4─O/Clu@NC‐0.1Ac catalyst containing atomically‐dispersed FeN4─O sites (medium‐spin Fe2+) and Fe clusters delivered a half‐wave potential of 0.89 V for ORR and an overpotential of 330 mV at 10 mA cm−2 for OER in 0.1 m KOH. When the catalyst was used in a rechargeable Zn–air battery, a power density of 284.5 mW cm−2 was achieved with excellent ...

"International Trade and Global Warming" [PDF]

open access: yes
In a non-cooperative strategic environmental regulation, unilateral regulation may yield the so-called "carbon-leakage" and the government choice over the emission taxes and quotas play an important role.

Trap‐Modified Inverted Organic Photodetectors via Layer‐by‐Layer Processing with Poly(N‐vinylcarbazole) Additives

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Trap state engineering in inverted organic photodetectors (OPDs) is achieved via combined layer‐by‐layer (LbL) processing and poly(N‐vinylcarbazole) (PVK) incorporation. LbL reduces the trap density while PVK additives gradually shift trap states from shallow band‐edge to deep mid‐gap levels, tailoring the energy distribution.

Particulate exhaust emissions from an experimental combustor [PDF]

open access: yes
The concentration of dry particulates (carbon) in the exhaust of an experimental gas turbine combustor was measured at simulated takeoff operating conditions and correlated with the standard smoke-number measurement.
