Carbon Dioxide Fixation in Lobster Nerve
Science, 1962Aspartic, glutamic, malic, and citric (isocitric) acids were isolated by chromatographic methods from lobster nerves incubated with Ringer's solution containing C 14 -bicarbonate. All the compounds were labeled; the bulk of the radioactivity appeared in the aspartic acid.

Carbon cycling: Molecular regulation of photosynthetic carbon fixation
Microbial Ecology, 1996Photosynthetic carbon fixation by phytoplankton is a key component of the global carbon cycle. Our understanding of the types of picoplankton and ultraphytoplankton involved in this process is evolving. However, mechanisms of regulation of photosynthetic carbon fixation in the oceans are poorly understood.

Carbon fixation and carbon availability in marine phytoplankton
Photosynthesis Research, 1994It is widely believed that inorganic C does not limit the rate of short-term photosynthesis, the net productivity, or the maximum biomass, of marine phytoplankton. This lack of inorganic C restriction is less widely believed to hold for phytoplankton in many low alkalinity freshwaters or for seaweed in nutrient-enriched rock pools.

Carbon Fixation and Allocation
1995The question of ‘Carbon fixation and allocation’ in the context of ‘Carbon sequestration in the biosphere’ requires that we consider Net Ecosystem Productivity (NEP), not merely ‘Gross Primary Productivity’ (GPP) or ‘Net Primary Productivity’ (NPP). Definitions of these terms are discussed by Williams (1993) and illustrated in Figure 1.

Mechanisms of carbon fixation and engineering for increased carbon fixation in cyanobacteria
Algal Research, 2015Cyanobacteria, gram-negative prokaryotic microorganisms, perform oxygenic photosynthesis with a photosynthetic machinery similar to higher plants which includes ribulose 1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase/oxygenase (RuBisCO) as the main CO2-fixing enzyme. Currently, there is a growing interest to use cyanobacteria as photosynthetic microbial cell factories ...

Carbon Fixation and Phototrophy
2005Publisher Summary The chapter focuses on the processes whereby organisms fix CO 2 into organic biomass. This chapter, therefore, explores how energy is gained through both chemotrophic and phototrophic metabolisms and how this energy is used to fix CO 2 . Some attention is also given to the principal known CO 2 fixation pathways.

CARBONIC ANHYDRASE AND CARBON FIXATION IN COCCOLITHOPHORIDS1
Journal of Phycology, 1982ABSTRACTRates of carbon fixation in coccolithophorids in culture, unlike many other algae, are carbon limited at ambient levels of dissolved inorganic carbon (DIC). Apparently, plants often rely on activity of carbonic anhydrase (CA) to raise the level of CO2 in cells and achieve carbon saturation.
