Rare isotope studies involving catalytic oxidation of CO over platinum-tin oxide [PDF]

open access: yes
Results of studies utilizing normal and rare oxygen isotopes in the catalytic oxidation of carbon monoxide over a platinum-tin oxide catalyst substrate are presented. Chemisorption of labeled carbon monoxide on the catalyst followed by thermal desorption

The orbital motion, absolute mass, and high-altitude winds of exoplanet HD209458b

open access: yes, 2010
For extrasolar planets discovered using the radial velocity method, the spectral characterization of the host star leads to a mass-estimate of the star and subsequently of the orbiting planet. In contrast, if also the orbital velocity of the planet would

Synthesis and Characterization of Py(PCL), Py(PLLA) Homopolymers and Py(PCL‐b‐PLLA) Copolymer via Ring‐Opening Polymerization: Determination of Structural, Optical, and Biocompatible Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
This work investigates by the ROP process the chemical structure, thermal, optical and biocompatibility with living cells of the pyrene‐functionalized Py(PCL), Py(PLLA) homopolymers, and Py(PCL‐b‐PLLA) copolymers. It thoroughly confirms their stability, great fluorescence, and capacity to support MCF‐7 cell growth.

Chemical Vapor Deposition of High‐Quality Graphene Using Carboxylated Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons as Solid Carbon Sources

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Graphene is grown from pyrene and its carboxylated derivative, 1‐pyrenecarboxylic acid (1‐PCA). The carboxylic acid group of 1‐PCA underwent decarboxylation to produce pyrene and CO2, thereby triggering the Boudouard reaction. This reaction results in graphene with high charge‐carrier mobility by decreasing vacancy‐type defects and oxygen groups in the
