Influence of the Acid Reactivity of Carbenium Ions in Zeolites on the Methanol‐to‐Olefins Process

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, EarlyView.
Herein, we studied the Brønsted acid reactivity of polymethylbenzenium and alkyl‐substituted cyclopentenyl cations, key intermediates in the methanol‐to‐olefins process in ZSM‐5 zeolite. CD3CN selectively and reversibly deprotonates benzenium ions, while cyclopentenyl cations require stronger bases.

Ph2SCCO: A New Versatile CCO‐Fragment Transfer Reagent

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, EarlyView.
The synthesis, isolation, and full characterization of the unprecedented heterocumulene Ph2SCCO is presented. Starting from simple precursors, Ph2SCCO provides direct access to the valuable class of (bicyclic) α‐cyclopropylcarbonyl compounds. It has emerged from our reactivity studies as an excellent reagent for the CCO fragment transfer in organic ...

Baseline Characteristics of Pristine Agricultural Pods Biochar

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The valorization of agricultural pod wastes into biochar offers a sustainable pathway for waste management and the development of functional carbonaceous materials. This study comparatively evaluates biochars produced from cocoa, flamboyant, and locust bean pods using an autothermal top‐lit updraft gasifier with retort heating, a system ...

Recycling of Polymer Components From Waste Face Masks for Asphalt Modification: A Mini Review

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The COVID‐19 pandemic greatly increased plastic waste through widespread personal protective equipment (PPE) use, creating a serious environmental challenge. Disposable face masks (FM), primarily composed of non‐biodegradable polypropylene, account for an estimated 86 million units discarded monthly, leading to significant environmental ...

Mucosal‐Associated Invariant T Cells in Rheumatic Diseases

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, EarlyView.
Mucosal‐associated invariant T (MAIT) cells are innate‐like T cells defined by their semi‐invariant T cell receptor and restriction by the major histocompatibility complex class I–related molecule (MR1). These cells are primarily activated by microbial‐derived metabolites presented by MR1 or by cytokines.
