Iridium‐Doped Monoclinic Zirconia as a Catalyst for the Oxygen Evolution Reaction

open access: yesChemCatChem, EarlyView.
Using density functional theory, we study Ir‐dopings of the monoclinic ZrO2${\rm ZrO}_2$ (1¯11$\bar{1}11$) surface in search of an Ir‐lean catalyst for the oxygen evolution reaction. These are found to be metastable compared to the separate phases of IrO2${\rm IrO}_2$ and ZrO2${\rm ZrO}_2$.

Role of Gas Dropouts in CO₂ Methanation over MOF‐Derived Ni₃Fe@C Catalysts: An In Situ XAS and PDF Study

open access: yesChemCatChem, EarlyView.
A Fe2NiO phase, identified by both in situ pair distribution function and X‐ray absorption spectroscopy, stabilizes the conversion and product selectivity in the CO2 methanation reaction over a bimetallic FeNi catalyst derived from MOF decomposition. Abstract With industrial chemical processes facing the challenges of renewable energy supply, catalysts

Catalyst Ink Preparation Matters for Electrocatalytic Carbon Dioxide Reduction

open access: yesChemElectroChem, Volume 12, Issue 6, March 15, 2025.
This work studies how catalyst ink affects catalyst layer properties, and consequently how catalyst layer thickness and roughness influence CO2 electroreduction performance: thicker layers favor C2+ products by lowering local CO2 and increasing local pH, while thinner layers enhance C1 products by raising local CO2 and reducing local pH.

Tetraethylammonium Cation Activates Fe for Selective Electroreduction of CO2 to Oxalate

open access: yesChemElectroChem, EarlyView.
A tetraethylammonium‐activated iron‐based electrode drives efficient CO2 utilization in a non‐aqueous electrochemical system for scalable, high‐value commodity chemical synthesis. The strong binding energy of CO on iron surfaces has rendered Fe electrodes as poor electrochemical CO2 reduction (eCO2R) catalysts, predominantly producing hydrogen.

Cathode Materials for Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cells: From Metal and Metal Composite Catalysts to Carbon‐Supported Hybrids in Oxygen Reduction Reaction

open access: yesChemElectroChem, EarlyView.
This review highlights recent progress in the development of electrocatalysts for the oxygen reduction reaction in proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs). Particular focus is given to structure–activity relationships, active site identification, and the role of noble and non‐noble metals, with insights into synthetic strategies and performance in
