Scanned Probe Microscopy of Electronic Transport in Carbon Nanotubes [PDF]

open access: green, 2000
We use electrostatic force microscopy and scanned gate microscopy to probe the conducting properties of carbon nanotubes at room temperature. Multi-walled carbon nanotubes are shown to be diffusive conductors, while metallic single-walled carbon ...

Solitons in carbon nanotubes [PDF]

open access: greenPhysical Review B, 2000
The symmetries of spontaneous lattice distortions in carbon nanotubes are investigated. When the degeneracy of the ground states remains discrete, there are solitons or domain walls connecting the different symmetry broken vaccua. These solitons, similarly to the case of polyacetelene, are fractionally charged states.

Paraconductivity in Carbon Nanotubes [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review B, 2002
We report the calculation of paraconductivity in carbon nanotubes above the superconducting transition temperature. The complex behavior of paraconductivity depending upon the tube radius, temperature and magnetic field strength is analyzed.

Carbon Nanotubes in Biomedicine [PDF]

open access: yesTopics in Current Chemistry, 2020
Nowadays, biomaterials have become a crucial element in numerous biomedical, preclinical, and clinical applications. The use of nanoparticles entails a great potential in these fields mainly because of the high ratio of surface atoms that modify the physicochemical properties and increases the chemical reactivity.

The Cohesive Energy and Vibration Characteristics of Parallel Single-Walled Carbon Nanotubes

open access: yesMolecules, 2021
Based on the van der Waals (vdW) interaction between carbon atoms, the interface cohesive energy between parallel single-walled carbon nanotubes was studied using continuous mechanics theory, and the influence of the diameter of carbon nanotubes and the ...

Nanospintronics with carbon nanotubes [PDF]

open access: yesSemiconductor Science and Technology, 2006
One of the actual challenges of spintronics is the realization of a spin-transistor allowing to control spin transport through an electrostatic gate. In this review, we report on different experiments which demonstrate a gate control of spin transport in a carbon nanotube connected to ferromagnetic leads.

Test and Detection of Antifreezing and Anticorrosion Performance of Carbon Nanofiber Bridge Concrete

open access: yesInternational Journal of Analytical Chemistry, 2022
In order to solve the problems of carbon nanotubes, steel fibers, and carbon nanotubes + steel fibers on the compressive strength and impact resistance of concrete, the author proposes a test method for the frost resistance and corrosion resistance of ...

Carbon nanotube biosensors [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Chemistry, 2015
Nanomaterials possess unique features which make them particularly attractive for biosensing applications. In particular, carbon nanotubes (CNTs) can serve as scaffolds for immobilization of biomolecules at their surface, and combine several exceptional physical, chemical, electrical, and optical characteristics properties which make them one of the ...
