INFLUENCE OF INTERSPECIFIC VARIATION ON TREE CARBON STOCK OF A BRAZILIAN CERRADO

open access: yesRevista Árvore, 2018
Cerrado is a biodiversity hotspot and possibly the most threatened tropical savanna in the world. Although Cerrado has an important role in the global carbon balance, studies about carbon stock in the biome are rare, especially with estimates per species.

Comparison of Seagrass Carbon Stock Across Three Distinct Associated Ecosystems, Eastern Coast of Bintan Island, Indonesia [PDF]

open access: yesBIO Web of Conferences
Marine biota and organisms, including seagrass, capture and utilize more than half of the carbon produced on earth. Seagrass ecosystems are blue carbon ecosystems that play a role in reducing CO2 emissions concerning current climate change.

Structural diversity and carbon stock of forest stands: tradeoff as modified by silvicultural thinning

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Forest Research
In forest management, merging stand structural diversity with carbon storage is essential for resilience and climate mitigation. This study assesses (1) how structural diversity in stands of spruce (Picea abies (L.) H. Karst.), pine (Pinus sylvestris L.),

Mapping the Urban Atmospheric Carbon Stock by LiDAR and WorldView-3 Data

open access: yesForests, 2021
Currently, the worsening impacts of urbanizations have been impelled to the importance of monitoring and management of existing urban trees, securing sustainable use of the available green spaces. Urban tree species identification and evaluation of their

Utilization of Sentinel-2 Imagery in Mapping the Distribution and Estimation of Mangroves' Carbon Stocks in Bengkulu City

open access: yesGeosfera Indonesia, 2022
The mangroves' aboveground biomass significantly contributes to the global carbon cycle or economic and ecological values. This makes knowledge about the spatial extent of the mangroves indispensable for policymakers. The sequence of mangroves’ condition

Monitoring, reporting and vrification for national REDD+programmes: two proposals [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Different options have been suggested by Parties to the UNFCCC (United Framework Convention on Climate Change) for inclusion in national approaches to REDD and REDD + (reduced deforestation, reduced degradation, enhancement of forest carbon stocks ...

Estimating soil organic carbon stock change at multiple scales using machine learning and multivariate geostatistics

open access: yes, 2021
Many national and international initiatives rely on spatially explicit information on soil organic carbon (SOC) stock change at multiple scales to support policies aiming at land degradation neutrality and climate change mitigation.

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Are Carbon Emissions Associated with Stock Returns?

open access: yesSSRN Electronic Journal, 2021
Abstract An influential emerging literature documents strong correlations between carbon emissions and stock returns. We re-examine those data and conclude that these associations are driven by two factors. First, stock returns are correlated only with unscaled emissions estimated by the data vendor, but not with unscaled emissions ...

CO2FIX at the landscape level - an application for the Veluwe area, the Netherlands [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
The carbon fixation model CO2FIX was adapted to run on landscape scale, and was applied to the Veluwe area, a forested region in the Netherlands. After a simulation of 500 years, the average carbon stock per hectare in the forest products compartment is ...
