A synthetic benzoxazine dimer derivative targets c‐Myc to inhibit colorectal cancer progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Benzoxazine dimer derivatives bind to the bHLH‐LZ region of c‐Myc, disrupting c‐Myc/MAX complexes, which are evaluated from SAR analysis. This increases ubiquitination and reduces cellular c‐Myc. Impairing DNA repair mechanisms is shown through proteomic analysis.

Climate changes have alleviated constraints on forest carbon storage capacity since 1970 in most of the Northern Hemisphere

open access: yesEcological Indicators
Global climate action is urgent, with forest carbon stock critical for mitigating climate change, yet vulnerable to its impacts. However, the long-term dynamics of climate-driven forest carbon stock have not fully been expressed.

Assessment of Tree Carbon Stock in the Kalrayan Hills of the Eastern Ghats, India

open access: yesWalailak Journal of Science and Technology, 2015
The aim of the present study was to determine the tree carbon stock in the tropical forests of the Kalrayan hills in the Eastern Ghats, India. The total area of the Kalrayan hills (1,055 km2) was divided into 34 grids of 6.25 × 6.25 km2.

Carbon stock in the litter on the Skolivski Beskydy territory (Ukrainian Carpathians)

open access: yesЛюдина і довкілля: Проблеми неоекології, 2022
Purpose. Investigate the carbon stock in the forest litter in the Skolivski Beskydy (Ukrainian Carpathians), taking into account the mountainous features of the region, and model the regional regression equation for calculating the carbon stock in the ...

Carbon assessment for Robusta coffee production systems in Vietnam: a case study in Dak Lak [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Carbon assessments have proliferated to identify climate friendly practices in Arabica producing systems, though little attention is given to Robusta. In this study, we evaluated the climate impact of Robusta production via quantification of carbon stock

Cytoplasmic p21 promotes stemness of colon cancer cells via activation of the NFκB pathway

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytoplasmic p21 promotes colorectal cancer stem cell (CSC) features by destabilizing the NFκB–IκB complex, activating NFκB signaling, and upregulating BCL‐xL and COX2. In contrast to nuclear p21, cytoplasmic p21 enhances spheroid formation and stemness transcription factor CD133.

Propagating Uncertainty in Plot-based Estimates of Forest Carbon Stock and Carbon Stock Change [PDF]

open access: yesEcosystems, 2014
Ecosystem science increasingly relies on highly derived metrics to synthesize across large datasets. However, full uncertainty associated with these metrics is seldom quantified. Our objective was to evaluate measurement error and model uncertainty in plot-based estimates of carbon stock and carbon change. We quantified the measurement error associated

Evaluation of in vitro toxicity of common phytochemicals included in weight loss supplements using 1H NMR spectroscopy

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We investigated the toxicity of 12 active compounds commonly found in herbal weight loss supplements (WLS) using human liver and colon cell models. Epigallocatechin‐3‐gallate was the only compound showing significant toxicity. Metabolic profiling revealed protein degradation, disrupted energy and lipid metabolism suggesting that the inclusion of EGCG ...

Global patterns of aboveground carbon stock and sequestration in mangroves

open access: yesAnais da Academia Brasileira de Ciências
In order to contribute to understand the factors that control the provisioning of the ecosystem service of carbon storage by mangroves, data on carbon stock and sequestration in the aboveground biomass (AGB) from 73 articles were averaged and tested for ...
