Modelling of carbon dioxide absorption in hollow fiber membrane contactor for different flow configurations

open access: yesResults in Engineering
In the study of gas absorption using hollow fiber membrane contactor (HFMC), quantitative analysis between the parallel flow and crossflow configurations remains unclear, leading to difficulty in understanding the mass transfer behaviour in membrane ...

Diagnostic Utility of Testing for Novel Murine Autoantibodies for Sjögren's Disease in the Rheumatology Outpatient Setting

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Objective The goal was to assess the diagnostic performance of three novel autoantibodies (NA) for Sjögren's disease (SjD) by comparing NA prevalence in patients with SjD, other autoimmune rheumatic diseases (ARDs), nonspecific chronic sialadenitis (CS), and controls.

Global congruence of carbon storage and biodiversity in terrestrial ecosystems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Deforestation is a main driver of climate change and biodiversity loss. An incentive mechanism to reduce emissions from deforestation and forest degradation (REDD) is being negotiated under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.

Interactions between Molten High‐Silicon Electrical Steels and Carbon‐Bonded MgO Refractories Based on Recyclates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study examines how several molten high‐silicon electrical steels interact with both conventional and recycled MgO–C refractories. For this, various immersion experiments are conducted. In addition to infiltration, a number of mechanisms are identified and explained that control the corrosion of the refractory material.
