3D‐Printed Porous Hydroxyapatite Formed via Enzymatic Mineralization
Bone combines lightness, strength, and the ability to heal, inspiring new materials design. This work introduces a room‐temperature, enzyme‐mediated 3D printing method to create porous hydroxyapatite scaffolds. The process avoids energy‐intensive sintering, preserves bioactivity, and allows control over porosity and mineralization.

Deciphering Small Molecule Diffusion Parameters Across Light Responsive Polymersome Membranes
Light‐responsive polymersomes bearing donor–acceptor Stenhouse adducts (DASAs) enable programmable control over small‐molecule transport across synthetic membranes. By systematically varying DASA density, an optimal functionalization regime is identified that maximizes light‐gated permeability.

Using Instancing to Efficiently Render Carbon Nanotubes [PDF]
In this paper, we present an effcient way to visualize Super Carbon Nanotubes (SCNTs). SCNTs are complex, hierarchical structures and their models easily consist of more than 1 million atoms. Our SCNTs are modeled as graphs of uniform nodes and egdes. We show that OpenGL instancing is a very suitable technique for rendering such large graphs, because ...

Beyond microbial carbon use efficiency
2023Microbial carbon use efficiency (CUE) is defined as the proportion of microbial biomass growth C versus substrate C uptake, and thus provides a useful measure of microbially driven accumulation and loss of soil organic carbon (SOC) 1. In a recent study published in Nature 2, the authors use a data-driven machine learning approach to conclude that CUE ...

Efficient carbon dioxide sequestration by using recombinant carbonic anhydrase
Process Biochemistry, 2018Abstract Efficient biological carbon dioxide sequestration for slowing down the climate changes requires a highly active and stable carbonic anhydrase (CA). A CA from Mesorhizobium loti (i.e., MlCA) was first over-expressed in E. coli via different vectors and a concentration of up to 5 g/L was obtained with pET32a(+).
