Design of Carbon–Carbon Ylides

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie
Abstract Here, we have reported the computational design of a new class of ylides, elusive carbon–carbon ylides featuring zwitterionic σ‐bonds, derived from the norbornane‐2,6‐dione framework. Utilizing the state‐of‐the‐art computational methods, we have demonstrated that appropriate substitutions on this scaffold

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Visualization simulation experiments and porosity evolution mechanisms of deep to ultra-deep carbonate reservoirs

open access: yesPetroleum Exploration and Development
To address the challenges in studying the pore formation and evolution processes, and unclear preservation mechanisms of deep to ultra-deep carbonate rocks, a high-temperature and high-pressure visualization simulation experimental device was developed ...

COCARDE: new view on old mounds – an international network of carbonate mound research [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
EGU2012-12550 Carbonate mounds are important contributors of life in different settings, from warm-water to cold-water environments, and throughout geological history.

Orbital frequencies in the carbonate sedimentary record: distorted by diagenesis? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
The most important archive of Earth’s climate change through geologic history is the sedimentary rock record. Rhythmic sedimentary alternations are usually interpreted as a consequence of periodic variations in the orbital parameters of the Earth.

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Craven Basin and southern Pennines [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Carboniferous rocks within this area occupy the region contiguous with the northern Pennines to the north (Chapter 12) and the Peak District to the south (Chapter 10).

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.
