Carbonate Platform Megafacies of the Jurassic and Cretaceous Deposits of the Karst Dinarides

open access: yesGeologia Croatica, 2002
Platform carbonate deposits of the Karst Dinarides area have a stratigraphicrange from the Middle Triassic (or even Carboniferous insome places) to the Middle Eocene, forming a belt nearly 700 kmlong and, (after reduction by younger tectonics) 80&ndash ...

Dose‐dependent hepatotoxicity of hydrogen peroxide in HepG2 cells and its modulation by CYP450 induction

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
NMR metabolomics revealed concentration‐dependent metabolic perturbations in HepG2 cells exposed to H2O2. Rifampicin pretreatment enhanced metabolic competence, attenuated toxin‐induced alterations and produced metabolite profiles more consistent with human liver physiology, supporting the use of CYP450‐induced HepG2 models for improved in vitro ...

The Nummulitique: carbonate deposition in a foreland basin setting; Eocene, French alps [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
The Eocene Nummulitique (Lutetian to Priabonian) has been studied in the external chains of the French Alps in Haute Savoie and Haute Provence. The Nummulitique unconformably overlies the Mesozoic passive margin succession and represents the onset of ...

Peritidal carbonate cycles induced by carbonate productivity variations: A conceptual model for an isolated Early Triassic greenhouse platform in South China

open access: yesJournal of Palaeogeography, 2014
Eustasy has commonly been invoked to explain peritidal carbonate cyclicity, but is difficult to explain cycles formed in a greenhouse climate when eustasy is minimal.

Evolution‐guided yeast complementation reveals functional differences in human PSPH variants

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Ancient genomes can help guide which human genetic variants are tested experimentally. This study applies that idea to PSPH, a gene involved in serine biosynthesis, and uses high‐throughput yeast complementation to compare variant function. The findings reveal measurable differences among selected alleles and illustrate the value of evolution‐guided ...

IGF2 knockout reduces but does not abolish osteosarcoma growth in vitro and in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
To test whether endogenous IGF2 promotes osteosarcoma growth, IGF2 was knocked out in Saos2 cells via CRISPR‐Cas9. KO cells showed reduced proliferation in vitro, and knockout xenografts in mice reached only ~25% of wild‐type tumor volume. Insulin‐like growth factor 2 (IGF2) is implicated in osteosarcoma, but direct functional evidence of its role is ...

Cretaceous Rudists and Carbonate Platforms [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Abstract Sedimentologists, stratigraphers and paleontologists will find new data in SP 87, "Cretaceous Rudists and Carbonate Platforms: Environmental Feedback". The papers of the Proceedings of the Seventh International Congress on Rudists are organized into three themes: (1) Depositional Environments of Cretaceous Carbonates has been

Identification and characterization of a gene conferring stress resistance in Escherichia coli and cyanobacteria

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Functional screening identified PcSyn14890, a cyanobacteria‐specific protein that enhances growth and stress resistance in E. coli and Synechocystis PCC6803. Although we expected it to function as a molecular chaperone, it was unable to protect against thermal aggregation of GAPDH.

Risk of Non‐Arteritic Anterior Ischemic Optic Neuropathy in Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension Patients Treated with GLP‐1 Receptor Agonists

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Glucagon‐like peptide‐1 receptor agonists (GLP‐1 RAs) have demonstrated significant weight‐reducing effects and may offer benefits in idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH); however, recent concerns about the risk of non‐arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION) have emerged.
