Implications of sea-level rise in a modern carbonate ramp setting

Geomorphology, 2018
Abstract This study addresses a gap in our understanding of the effects of sea-level rise on the sedimentary systems and morphological development of recent and ancient carbonate ramp settings. Many ancient carbonate sequences are interpreted as having been deposited in carbonate ramp settings. These settings are poorly-represented in the Recent. The

Sedimentary patterns and geometries of the Bahamian outer carbonate ramp (Miocene–Lower Pliocene, Great Bahama Bank)

open access: yesSedimentology, 1999
Core, logging and high-resolution seismic data from ODP Leg 166 were used to analyse deposits of the Neogene (Miocene-Lower Pliocene) Bahamian outer carbonate ramp.

Sedimentary evolution of a shallow carbonate ramp (Kimmeridgian, NE Spain): Unravelling controlling factors for facies heterogeneities at reservoir scale

open access: yesMarine and Petroleum Geology, 2019
The facies evolution of a Late Jurassic (latest Kimmeridgian) shallow carbonate ramp was reconstructed after the analysis and correlation of 21 logs in a 20 × 30 km outcrop area located south of Zaragoza (northeast Spain).

Cool-water carbonate ramps: a review

Geological Society, London, Special Publications, 2006
Abstract This review of marine, cool-water carbonate ramps considers both their defining features and the key publications relating to them. Cool-water carbonate environments are dominated by open, skeletal debris-covered sea bottoms which support biological assemblages devoid of hermatypic coral reefs, calcified green algae and non-skeletal ...

Testing sea-level and carbonate production effects on stratal architecture of a distally steepened carbonate ramp (Upper Miocene, Menorca): A 3D forward modelling approach

open access: yesSedimentary Geology, 2022
Although distally steepened carbonate ramps have been studied by numerous researchers, the processes that control the development of these carbonate systems, including tectonics, differential carbonate production along the ramp profile, or antecedent ...

Carbonate ramp depositional systems

Sedimentary Geology, 1992
Abstract The classification, tectonic settings, stratigraphy and early diagenesis of carbonate ramp systems are reviewed. Carbonate ramps are common in all geological periods, but were dominant at times when reef-constructing organisms were absent or inhibited. Ramps can be subdivided into inner-, mid-, and outer-ramp environments.
