A new approach for determination of carbonate rock electrostatic double layer variation towards wettability alteration

Journal of Molecular Liquids, 2019
Focus on the molecular scale of low salinity brine effects seems to be necessary to clarify the possible mechanisms of carbonate rock wettability alteration.

Automatic Carbonate Rock Facies Identification with Deep Learning

, 2020
Linking depositional properties and post-depositional diagenetic modifications of a rock with its petrophysical attributes remains a greatest challenge for carbonate rock characterization, formation evaluation and petrophysical rock typing.

Improving carbonate rock hardness by consolidating additives to sustain long term fracture conductivity

, 2020
Fracture conductivity is a fracture's capacity to deliver fluids from the hydrocarbon reservoir to the wellbore. Sustaining long-term fracture conductivity results in better well productivity and reserve recovery.

Rock properties evaluation for carbonate reservoir characterization with multi-scale digital rock images

Journal of Petroleum Science and Engineering, 2019
Digital rock analysis (DRA) following the digital imaging techniques can be used to image detailed rock microstructures and simulate rock properties, such as porosity and permeability, for reservoir characterization.

Sequence stratigraphy of carbonate rocks

The Leading Edge, 1999
In the first contribution to TLE’s Geologic Column, J. M. Mulholland concluded that “sequence stratigraphy … is a tool that every explorationist must master.” I agree. In fact, sequence stratigraphy is more than a versatile tool in exploration and production geology. It is in many ways a role model for applied earth sciences.

Stylolitization in Carbonate Rocks

1968
Stylolite features are defined in terms of rock grain fabric relationships: intergranular and aggregate stylolites are differentiated. Geometric and genetic classifications of stylolites are offered. Megascopic and microscopic observations on the stylolites occuring in carbonate rocks of the Uppper Mississippian System in southern Illinois fluorspar ...

The impact of connate water saturation and salinity on oil recovery and CO2 storage capacity during carbonated water injection in carbonate rock

Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering, 2019
Carbonated water injection (CWI) is known as an efficient technique for both CO2 storage and enhanced oil recovery (EOR). During CWI process, CO2 moves from the water phase into the oil phase and results in oil swelling. This mechanism is considered as a

Stochastic multiscale model for carbonate rocks

Physical Review E, 2007
A multiscale model for the diagenesis of carbonate rocks is proposed. It captures important pore scale characteristics of carbonate rocks: wide range of length scales in the pore diameters; large variability in the permeability; and strong dependence of the geometrical and transport parameters on the resolution.

Diagenesis of carbonate rocks

Journal of the Geological Society, 1976
The mineralogy and textures of sedimentary carbonate rocks suggest two stages of diagenesis. The stabilization of skeletal fragments from aragonite, high magnesian calcite and calcite, to calcite is the first stage and generally pre-compactive grain fracture.
